Not a very good amp. Gets hot really fast and causes amp to shut down much faster. I got rid of mine asap. Good for low budget systems but not for the high-end.
THIS AMP IS RUNNING A TYPE-R ALPINE 6 1/2 IN. COMPONENT SET AND TYPE-S 6 X 9 COAXIAL SET. IT SEEMS TO BE DOING A GREAT JOB AND KEEPING COOL FOR ME. I AM CONSIDERING PUTTING ANOTHER IN MY EXPEDITION WITH 2 COMPONENT SETS. ONE IN EACH DOOR.
Reading the other reviews on this amp, I ran a JL Audio W3 10 inch on two of the channels bridged, and 2, 6.5 inch MA Audio speakers in the doors. I used 2 gauge wire for the ground and the power, keeping this amp running cool and bangin' in my trunk. MA amps sre great if you don't wanna spend alotta cash.
I had this amp hooked up to 6X9 kappa and 6.5 kappa components. They sound excellent. Last week, I took out my MA 489i to replace with a 40watt X4 alpine amp because it was on sale ($83 clearance) and with a name like Alpine it should sound even better. I was wrong The volume stayed the same but the midrange sound was very muggy. When I listen to vocal jazz and Smash mouth, the muggy midrange will rattle out of control and hurt my ear. I can confirm this because we bought three of the same alpine amps and set it up in 2 Accords and 1 civic. I let my cousin try my 489i after our low price alpine amp incident and it sounded very clear with the 489i as well. So, tomorrow, the 489i is going back in. I never had a problem with heat nor ground noise. In conclusion, I recommend this amp because I had 5 great years with it.
25 frequency is as hi as you can here,the tunigh front to back also agaist the subwoorer sound .
