|After much research and past experience in these sub woofers including used to work on the assembly line in Simi Valley, CA I was dying to try one of the new subs.
Fyi, these subs pictured (the silver no cap big CV logo 12.2) were discontinued. Now, they make the "mobile" V Max series and changed the whole design. Go to the website for the picture. Now they almost look similar to the older Cerwin Vega subs I used to build. The big change was in the bracket assembly which was not a good idea. It is pretty much impossible to fit in a regular 12 pre cut enclosure so your choices are to take out a file and mark where the arms are and dig into it 1/2 inch. I didn't like the idea of the opening length they suggested because to me it would be very flimsy and these are heavy subs. So feature wise, I give this a mediocre rating. However, this sub is very nicely built besides that. Strong surround and cone material with a solid spider assembly.
Had two of these, had to return one back to Onlinecarstereo. One of the voice coils partially burned out and was rattling the same day I bought it. I know it was nothing I did and believe it was just a bad sub that got out and these things happen. Luckily they have a small return policy because Cerwin Vega themselves won't honor internet sales as these subs are very difficult to get off the internet and mostly dealers can sell them. SO hopefully my downer mood will turn around when I get my replacement which I really want badly.
As for the sound this sub pounds after you slowly break them in. Because these are 2 ohms which is what I gambled with I hooked it up in series/parallel for a 2 ohm load. After the next day the solo 12 was really thumping loud. Perfect for heavy metal, rock and other loud music as the bass is crisp. If I had a gripe, I wish the higher frequencies were a bit louder but I am still toggling with my new Hifonics amp and JVC deck. Put the gain on 60% and the remote knob halfway just pounds my chest. Great sub, not thrilled about the mounting specs though.|

|I put three v-max in my 2006 Ford ranger x-cab. dropped it to 1 ohm. pushed by a MG Quarts 2400 watts @ 1ohms.awesome sound that i could not get from 3 alpines or 3 infinity subs. v-max well worth the money|
