I purchased this unit and i am very pleased with it. I have it installed in a 2001 nissan maxima and its great. the big plus is the detachable face.
This was my first navigation unit so I don't have a lot of others to compare it to. I searched long and hard before I actually purchased a navigation unit and finally came to this one. I've been nothing but pleased with the performance and features of this navigation unit. The Garmin navigation system works really well. The navigation system loads under 2 minutes and the touch screen feature is really nice. It recalculates alternate routes fast as well too. This JVC unit is really easy to use. I'm sure I haven't tapped into all of its features yet but I've found my way around fairly easy, even without referring to the user guide that much. I have this unit custom installed in my '05 Maxima. This system does a great job with the turn by turn audible voice instructions. The points of interest feature works really well if you're in an unknown city. The unit also produces really nice audio too. I have my speakers running on an external amp but the 7 band parametric built in equalizer allows for lots of flexibility when it comes to tuning your system. The DVD picture is really nice and the built in USB port for IPod direct connection is nice. The touch screen does a great job of not showing finger prints and smudges. The only gripes I have about this unit is it doesn't have built in bluetooth, you have to buy the bluetooth kit separately and it's slow when you use it to scroll through your Ipod for song.
This is a great screen. It has really good graphics and is user friendly. The navigation is excellent and works just as well, if not better than Garmin. I really like the speed alert and posted speed limit icon. The ipod interface is rather slow but works well. Overall, a great product. Retails at my local stereo shop at $1300.
