Product Reviews For Pioneer DEH-P3500

  • Vast improvement over Chrysler "Premium" cassete radio. Also installed Pioneer 6.5" TS-A1680R in the front, Sony Xplod 6x9" XS-V6933 in the rear, and planning to add an Infinity 12 Kappa sub with 600w amp. With no sub, it still thumps inside the car to all kinds of rap, turn the bass down, and you have a live concert hall in your automobile. Would definetly reccomend it to anybody looking to get a CD player with expansion in the future such as CD changer, XM Radio, and subwoofer.

  • One of the best head units under $200. Packed with features, and sound quality is top notch. Its got great expandability, and can support XM radio, cd changers, and subwoofers.

  • I really like the features on this deck such as they different types of EQ functions, change bass, treble, change frequencies, turn on SFEQ, or EX-EQ, and putting in CD text which is really cool. I swith between EX-EQ and SFEQ off because this sounds the best. When turning the SFEQ off, the sound and bass goes to all four speakers. However, when the SFEQ is turned on most of the sound will go to the rear speakers, which are the most powerful to handle the bass. If you want your music louder and clearer I strongly recommend to get new speakers instead of using factory speakers (IT MAKES A DIFFERNCE). After I got two 4X6 Infinity speakers for the front and two 6X9 Alpine speakers for the rear it really improved the bass. Although, sometimes whether it's the treble or the highs on the CD player, it really bothers me. When hearing lyrics that have that sssssssss sound for example "since" it sometimes irritates my ears (This only happens with certain cds). I don't know if anyone else notices this but if you are like me then you should really consider this. Alpine Cd players do a really good job suppressig the way the highs come out, leaving them easy to listen to. What else I don't like about this head unit is the FM radio. I stinks! I have to turn it up way louder than I would when listening to a cd. I listen to the basic stations such as KROQ, Power, Star, KLOS, KIIS, etc. I really think that Pioneer could really improve this part of their radio. Overall, this is a really good CD player and worth the 170 dollars but if you are really into how a Cd sounds and want perfection then I would recommend buying an Alpine.

  • Ill be honest. First couple of months i owned this deck i absolutely hated it. So much so that i was about to write pioneer a very nasty letter. I had the unit teamed up to some very nice pioneer front 6.75's and rear 6x9's and the sound was still terrible. One thing that stood out was the very loud high's. It was so overpowering that it hurt your ears. Well.. one day i decided that maybe i should finally read the manual. (Note: READ THE MANUAL FOR THIS DECK.) This thing has SO many options it will make your head spin. What i found out is that I had the EQ curve set all wrong. When bestbuy installed the unit they upped the high's to make up for my bad stock speakers. So when i replaced them with the pioneers that could actually handle that sound.. that was all i could hear. I finally figured out that if i hold the AUDIO button for 5 seconds it would allow me to set the sound-level for each Hz from as low as 24hz up to REAL high. This means that instead of turning only the treble down and haveing ALL high's get quiet.. i could pick out only the real high-pitched ones and turn them down. Befure i was just lowering it using treble or the LOW-MID-HIGH adjustment... i was unaware that i could hold down the audio button and work with each individual section of the eq curve. I also figured out that having the LOUD setting set to MED instead of HIGH improved sound greatly as well. HIGH is for times when its really noise around and u need that extra treble to hear the singers and whatnot. Well.. my car is relatively quiet inside so i didnt need that. Now that i have finally got this thing all figured out.. i must say.. it provides some of the best sound i have ever heard. Just make sure you spend some time and learn how to use it first!
