Cannot beleive the sound quality. Very precise but not dry and tinny...very warm sound. Amazing bass from 6x9s. Mated these with matching 5/14 SPs in the doors and got exactly the sound I was hoping for plus some. Using Sony 4x50w head unit in a Monte. Excellent bang for the buck.
awesome set of lower budget speakers.. need for ultra high-end stuff with these unless ur thumpin at decibel drags. even when they're in the 6x9 boxes in my 87 K5 they sound amazing.(my complete systems boxes aren't built as of yet) gotta be the best bang for the buck.
Great speakers. Awesome job on Alpine's part. The thing I appreciate most is that Alpine seems to always provide all the hardware needed in order to install the speakers, including extra "oversize" and "reverse mounting" brackets. I appreciate that, especially when provided with such an inexpensive package. Sound- Very clear. Excellent. However, they can't seem to live up to their 200 W or so power... Other than that, superb set of stylish speakers at a great price. And to add to this- The picture shown here aint that great... but the actual thing sure as hell looks damn good!! -WOLF from N VA
These speakers have kept me from needing a Sub! I have these hooked into a 4 channel alpine amp and another set of 5's for the door You can hear it all (Mids, Highs, and Bass). They Thump!
I gave the features a 7 because it doesnt have the swiveling tweeter like the smaller 5.25 and 6.5in speakers do, but its still a good speaker. The sound quality is really nice, but what else would you expect from Alpine? They can handle some power, and sound twice as good on an amplifier. Good speaker, but if you're just going to buy this one speaker, I suggest buying it somewhere else because it is cheaper other places. either way awesome speakers!
I actually made a mistake purchasing my type "s" speakers at a local audio store which jacked the price up. But otherwise I am impressed with the sound of the speakers. They have a very filling sound, I also have 6.5" type "s" 2-way speakers up front which also compliments the 6x9's. My future plan is to amplify all four speakers because they're not coming close to their peak power and they still sound great
Great speaker. I'm in the process of upgrading all my car audio to Alpine and I'm glad I went with the the Type-S 6x9's instead of the Type-R's. I recently heard the Type-R's and they only sound good when they are loud. These sound great at any volume and have a great bass. I only wish I had known about this site before I went out and spend about double what they are asking here. Great speaker!
excellent choice! I hooked a rocford punch 40 amp to these and would not beleave the bass u can get out of a pair of 6x9's
I had this pair in my 1989 nissan sentra powered off a profile ca-400 amp. wonderful sound, very detailed highs, nice midrange, and decent bass. they are currently in my room powered off a small home steo (~4w) but still sound great. planing to reinstall in my 1963 GMC.pick up the old design before the new ones (which look stupid)take over. they will run fine off of 16w(internal amp standard), but as everybody else is also saying, amp them to hear them sing.
Probably the best set of 6x9's I have owned yet! Very crisp and clear highs. Alpine really made a great speaker!
MAN I HAVE 8 OF THESE IN THE BACK DECK OF A CAPRICE ON A OLD SCHOOL FOSGATE 600.4 AN YOU TALKING BOUT SOUNDING LIKE A CONCERT, THESE ARE THE BEST 6X9 EVER AN IVE TRIED PIONEER, KENWOOD
