  • Mmmk, im here to help put this argument between the 9500 vs. W7 to rest. ok, i have 3 10w7's running only 400 into each... I've got 1000/1 into them, on 1 ohm stable... I know im underpowering them! and my friends got 2 10" 9500's in their 4-ohm series running fosgate amp, im not sure which one, but hes running 750 into each. OK! to start by saying, that the w7 is more a SQ (sound quality) sub, 9500 is more an SPL (loudness) sub. now, mine is obviously louder than his, BUT! he is right up there with me. i would have to say depending on what you want, loudness or sound quality, depends how u choose between the 2. Personally i used to hate MTX, but now, im not so sure. i do have to compliment MTX on the face of their sub, as theirs is metal and JL's is plastic, and only 400 watts into them, one of them i own is already starting to crack. I do have to say, if u have the money JL is the better choice, crisper clearer and MUCH deeper sound. the 9500 is mos def on the louder side, not as much deeper in sound but still pretty good. I would compare the 10" 9500 to the JL w6v2. All in all JL by me gets 9/10 only subtracted one for my cracking issues. the 10" 9500 gets 8/10 only because the sound is not so deep and clear. But in the future, i will prolly be getting rid of these w7's and getting some 9500's. so depending on ur prefrence, 9500 = LOUD, and w7 = PURE AND CLEAN

  • ok i have a rebutle to mike from yay area... he is right about the fact that JL is deeper but MTX 9500 has a better frequence range... and the fact that MTX is cheaper and has equal quality makes it a better speaker in my opinion. you cant match this speaker in quality because it has the ability to last longer than JL W7. if you put them on the same frequencey range from your amp, and the same wattage, you'll find that MTX not only hits harder but it has better frequency range, so i still think that if you like JL, you like it, but ive had 4 of my friends switch to the MTX thunder 9500....

  • I have two of these with my JBL 1201.1 pushing them in a ported box. Not only are these the cleanest subs I've ever heard, but the loudest; especially for tens. Before these I had a Kicker 15 L7, and these hit harder than that 15! If you want bass that sounds excellent, and still keeps up with the big boys, go with the 9500. P.S. - OnlineCarStereo is the best place to buy, no one comes close to their prices!

  • I had one of these in a bass slammer ported box along with a 421d mtx amp. It was the loudest ten that i have ever heard, and it was on the verge of making my ears hurt. Now i Ordered one more so i can have 2 mtx 9500 10"s and 2 mtx 421 amps in a ported bass slammer box, and i cant wait. I do hear that if you run two of these subs, the mtx 1501d or the mtx 8001a amp is the way to go, but i was very impressed with my first setup.

  • Hi I've 4 of these and all I can say is WOW!!! their mounted between the seats(center console) in my '01 GMC Sierra firing down and I can't run them full volume(not even half). They are the hardest hit 10s I ever heard and FELT. I had to run 6 sets highs(doors/kicker panels/rear cab wall) just keep K.C. up any less and they just drown them out. if your looking for some kicka// subs then get some of these(just don't mount them like my(that is if your don't want to blow your eardrums out)!!!

  • This sub beats out my old Kicker L7. I have it hooked up to a Kicker 1200.1 at 2 OHMS and it drowns out my 6 speakers in my RSX. This sub will hit hard no matter the volume level or the sub level. Best sub for the money and for its size and damn near impossible to blow!!!!!
