Audio dealer told me all 4inch speakers are the same. They are not. Replaced a pair of 4 inch Eclipse, which were matched with the 525 JL and 650 JL, and went from crappy sounding to clear as day. Also replacing the Eclipse 3422 amp with a JL 300/4, as JL is clearly superior in this department. The 8443 Eclipse HU is awesome, but its amp shouldn't be substituted for matched amp to speaker--specifically with the JL quality.
Went from stock paper speakers to these JLs. Wow the improvment was amazing. They can rattle windows on their own b/c of the insane amount of travel that they have. A must have item
the best and only replacement you should consider for any CHEVY/GMC s10/blazer/jimmy setup (DASH). website after website stated these don't fit, they do (with included plates). running them off factory head unit and coupled JL 500/1 and 2 8W3 4 ohm DVC subs sounds like a dream - a huge improvement over the stock dash speakers (where most of your high end spectrum sound comes from...). well worth the $
I put these in the dash of my Suzuki Sidekick Sport and was impressed with the amount of bass they could put out with a good amp for the size of speaker they are. In the end I drove them off the head unit as I only had a two channel amp and needed the power in the back for the XR650 components I have there. This combination served me very well and I didn't need a sub with my listening style. These TR400-CX will fill in the mid and high range very well and will handle more bass than you might expect.
