one the best speakers in the market
These subs are great to look at, and they will pound, but there are definitely better choices out there. Sure, they handle more power than anything in their price range, but they really don't do anything with it. Try a little smaller amp (I'm running a Hifonics bx1500d) and get yourself some MA's.....trust me you won't be disappointed as I was.
I bought 2 of these and put them in a dual ported box. The sound is really clear and bass comes out smooth and crisp. One problem though. I felt that the speakers do not push to the max. My brother has two kenwood 12 400rms single(vc) subwoofers and they play much harder and make your ears even hurt sometimes. I have tried two amps with the PSW412. one powerful and one not so powerful. It gave the axact same sound.. difference. Somehow they do not play as hard and deep as they should...almost as if there is a cap on the amount of power that can go to the speakers. But I have to say...when it doesn't come to deep baselines..my speakers play more solid and clear... I believe it might be my box that I am using though... I will run some tests in the summer and post again. Thanx for reading my jibber jabber.
Had 4 15s in a 2005 Ford Explorer with a built ported box tuned at 35hz. I used a Alphasonik 1000 2 channel amp which is suppose to do 3000 watts. I consistently did 147 fb at a lot of USAC shows in Florida. Only problem with them is the glue that holds the spider to the basket kept coming apart which caused the spider to rip off the basket. Wouldn't recommend for someone who is wanting to play them hard for long periods of time
