These are great headphones and sound great when properly insterted into you ear. In my case I was initally very mad because they sounded flat. The problem was that you must find the correct ear plug end piece to entirely fill your ear. For me the only insert that works is the large foam one, and it takes a second to get it positioned right to eliminate outside sound. Once they are in the right way you will begin to hear things you never knew were in the songs (very high quality sound), and the bass is just as good.
These do a FANTASTIC job while traveling--airplanes, trains, even cars. The reduction in noise is drastic and that reduction allows you to feel more refreshed when you reach your destination. My only complaint is that they need a pretty decent power source--the iPod doesn't cut it for bass response. I have both a 3G and a 5G, and the sound is very good, but nothing like when they're connected to my receiver at home. I'm thinking of adding a chu moy amp for the added bass. Oh, and like every reviewer before me, I initially hated the insertion procedure.. get used to it, like contact lenses.
You WILL want to buy a Cmoy amp for these things. I wasn't happy with the sound from my iPod, but that's because they needed more power. If you have 'em, plug them into a home receiver and see what I mean. The noise level drops so much on airplanes that when you take them out it sounds like someone opened a window. Totally awesome product.
