  • I recently installed an Alpine unit in my pickup. Once mama heard Sirius Blues it wasn't long before she wanted to ride with the Big Dog too. We put the 9847 in her car and I gotta tell you it rocks. It puts the factory unit to shame. Very straight forward and easy to use. I even prefer the thru the face cd loading to the fancy flip face routine that my Alpine goes thru. After listening to my friends Sirius fm transmitter radio, I can tell you that the sound is better thru the sat ready Alpine head units.

  • Gotta say this is a good deck. I've been wanting to get an mp3 deck for a while now. Only thing I didn't realize was that when making an MP3 cd, you can't really control what order the songs are played back in. Another gripe I have is that for some reason my bass isn't hitting as hard with this deck. The deck I had before this one (Alpine CDM-7871) had 4V sub pre-outs and it looks like the CDA-9847 only has 2V. I wasn't aware this would make much of a difference, but I do feel like my subs aren't hitting as hard with this new deck. My final gripe is that Alpine changed the plugs on the back of the deck for the wiring harness. If you have an older Alpine deck, you won't be able to simply swap out the deck and use your old wiring harness. All the wires are in the same order on the harness, but now two of the wires on one side are offset just enough for the plugs to not be interchangeable. This kind of upset me. Still a nice deck though, I'm sure it'll last me several years just like my old Alpine did

  • great head unit it is very driver freindly al the setings and opcions are easily and quickly accesible the file search and folder search opcion is a great cause if youve had an mp3 player before you know how frustrating it is to find a particular song and also the cuality feels very good unlike most of the competitors wich have a squeeky fragile feel to the buttons , this unit will never let you down my only disapontment was that it does not come with a remote control cause the voltage on the preouts doesnt really matter any good amp will have a line level adjustment

  • I just got mine installed the other night. I have a maxima that came with a factory head unit that was made by clarion and weighed 10 pounds. This Alpine has got to be the best bang for your buck. I noticed a huge difference in the sound quality. One of the best things though is the Bass Engine that Alpine is famous for. It allows you to turn up how hard your subs hit with out turning up the speakers in your car. Another great thing is the faceplate removal feature, that way no one steals your stuff. It comes with a cool storage case for easy storage in your pocket. All in all, this is definately the best headunit any one could buy at this price. I give it all 5 stars on everything.

  • excellent sound. blew away my factory setup that i thought was awesome. no need for the sound processing (bbe) that it has but its there if you want it. plenty of output for expandability too. very easy to use and it even plays my old scratched cd's. i love the mp3 playback. i just wish it had 4 volt preamp outs and built in crossovers but thats nothing compared to the sound

  • This unit is super clean when run w/JL Audio 10/w-1s and the alpine 350 monoblock with 4 6.5" co-ax with 4 channel 100rms amp per channel it makes the ground shake!!!

  • Blows my factory unity away! I have it paired with the alpine 360-4 channel and one Type-R 12" hooked to the M605. the sound is amazing! it is more clear than most home audio ive heard! it has a setting to turn off the head unit's amp power if your running a 4 channel so that you gain higher sound quality!

  • Good overall sound quality. The coolest thing about this unit is the display (illumination) colours can be changed from blue, to green, to red, to orange. That is nice since I can match this the illumination clours with the stock orange illumination that are in my BMW (i.e, looks less "after-matket"). Hence, the 9847 is popular with BMW owners. The facepalte is also black, not silver like most new units, which also blends in better with my dash. This unit probably would be much improved, like most stock receivers, with the addition of a decent amp. However, I find it is a crsip, clean unit, but I do find the tuner pre-select station buttons very small to push. Also, don't buy this unit if you enjoy AM radio. Mine does not receive any AM stations whatsoever. Dealer is going to add a 'second ground' to see if that helps. On the plus side, I get excellent FM with the good Alpine tuner, and great CD sound control. I also added an Ipod wire that is hidden in my glovebox, so I can plug in an Ipod or MP3 to play a myriad of music, depending on the memory size of the Ipod I may buy. Haven't tried it yet, but this feauture obviously offers excellent expandability. Sirius satellite radio expandibility is also another great option for the future. Finally, great price ($289 Canadian)for the Alpine quality, compared to what's out there.

  • Overall, A+ quality, price, sound, and looks. The price and service was unbeatable. The blue illumination just glows so nicely at night. With the iPod Interface makes this CD player the perfect combo. Sound adjustments are a snap and easy to manage. Easy as pie and sounds like a million bucks. I love this CD player. Best one I have ever owned. Alpine for life!!!

  • I like this deck for the fact that its ready for whatever you throw at it. You put a disk that has music no matter if its a cd, cd-r or whatever, it plays. BUT, I dont like the fact that it only has (Bass, Treble, Subwoffer control, balance, and a fader) which is pretty common. I thought it would have some sort of equalizer. But overall, its great for the money. I dont regret this purchase one bit.

  • Great sound! And powerful! There is a lot of options on this thing but I just use it for my cd's. Although Alpine doesn't make really flashy decks, they don't screw you with quality. Great price on this site, I paid about $110CDN more than it's listed here. Buy it, you'll love it!

  • I have just added this head unit to my F-150 and it rocks!! Sound quality is just great, unbeatable! For head unit you cant go wrong with an alpine deck, I must say that I also installed a Pioneer GM5300T (amp) paired to a Kicker CVT10" (flat subwoofer), man, it blows away! And keeps great bass quality. I am in the process of add a clarion equalizer, and add another amp (4ch) to feed mid and treb. I get to recall... with Alpine you cant go wrong, best head units around!!!
