This is one solid unit - as Alpine always is. I bought this one instead of the 9855 becuase frankly, the 9855's display sucked and the only other thing that was a step up was the 4v outs; not worth the extra $100 in my book. If the 9853 had 4v outs, it would be a solid 10 with ease.

This is one great head unit. Awesome tag/title reading features - great sound. 3 Preouts - like most alpines. Awesome customizable EQ. Overall this unit has been great.
love this head unit, just bought it a nth ago. I got 2 P2 rockford subs (400rms)powered by a 8004 rockford amp. P162s rockford components, frc 4369 rockford too with a 8004 amp too and at this time I found out that I got everything I want: sound quality and real kickass bass. 3 blocks away they know I'm coming, believe me.
I really like this head unit. But as far as having a great display it was not. I also thought that, the song tittles would display on the screen, the radio tittle would display and it did not. I spend all this money that I thought I was getting a great buy, but so far all I got was great sound. And at that, you have to be a genius(expert) to know how to read and calculate all the paragraphics in all the sounds that you have to modify to each channel. For me this head unit is just plain good. I would recommend the top of the line kenwood excelon. Now that a great buy. And user friendly.
This is a Great unit. I would recomend this to anyone with the money. I have a 96 honda civic, This unit improved the sound and clarity on the stock speakers drastically. Again anyone with enough money should defenitely consider this unit. Great Buy
one of the best cd players that I have ever owned. if you want good sound quality it is a good idea to go with alpine. this is a very fast and very easy cd player to use.

Bought this deck after having my deck stolen. This thing ROCKS it is easy to use (after alittle readin) and has awesome adjustabilty for sound. I have had a few other alpine decks but the CDA 9853 is the best yet. Just wish it had 4 volt pre outs.
This is one amazing head unit, let me tell you. Alpine all the way, Ive got this in me 94 Ranger Ext. Cab hooked up to an Alpine V12 Mono Amp and a Kicker COmpvr 12, it pounds!!! Plus this receiver made my stock door speakers sound twice as good as i thought the could hav.
Oustanding feature list, awesome sound , nice EQ, and timing feature is key. Interface is quite a bit more complicated than traditional alpine head units. For a product in this catagory you would expect better than 2v preouts. If you don't mind intricate controls and want really enjoy tweaking the sound properties of your music then this could be your next headunit.
IS LUIS AGAIN.- I've heard a lot of headunits but there is no one that sounds as clear as 9853 if you're looking for sq then this is the one, but if ur looking for a really awesome system-unit, then let me tell u guys that for a unit with that price I expected a 5v preout. the time correction feature really improves sq and gives u total control, then add the parametric eq n u have a headunit that lets u enjoy music, any kind of it,
Great head unit. The finger slide bar is tricky to get the hang of, but is an incredible feature after you learn it. Sound quality is great, BIG improvement over stock. The EQ is a little tricky for a beginner, but works wonders on your highs if set up right. Great unit - Buy it!
I had 3 different head units in the past and this is the best so far. I have it drive a pair of old school Kicker 12-inch free-air in a ported enclosure and a pair of Kicker 4-inch separates in the front via an Audio Control EQX through an old school Rockford Punch 800A4 and the sound quality is by far the best I have ever heard. I cannot imagine the ipod sound quality improve drastically though the ipod interface. I would reccommend this to anyone looking for a new head unit,
great looking great working unit. It has all the features that you will ever need and you can beat a alpine for the price
the glidetouch will require some time getting used to, but once ure used to it, its amazing. very user friendly.. very good looking head unit, detachable face is a nice feature.. lots of tuning options. subwoofer level control is very useful for adjustments on the fly, so are all the other features like time alignment, crossover, parametic/graphic equalizer, media expander, etc. it is also ipod compatible. u cant go wrong with this. simply amazing head unit. and is nicely priced too!
