Product Reviews For Boss Audio BL220DVC

  • we all heard of boss as being the botton line of car audio but they actually bounced back with new design and these actually hit hard use in a ported box u can use in a sealed but if u want the most out of them go with a band pass enclosure...

  • I purchased 2 of these subs and tried both ported and sealed boxes. They hit hard in the ported box but the hit even harder in the sealed box. I am running a 500a2 Punch amp the older model not the new looking ones. These are much more powerful amps. So I suggest you have a 2 channel amp that can drive @ 2 ohms on each channel to get the most out of these woofers.

  • well when i first got this speaker i thought it was a piece of crap because it olny cost me 49 per-sub but when i got them put in they do sound better than what you would think. but heres what you need if your looking at getting these subs and dont know alot about car audio. you need a sealed box with 1.5 cubic feet per sub or 3 cubic feet total. this is the amp that i have and even tho there are better and more powerful amps out there for the price this is all you need Lanzar VIBE236 2 Channel 1000 Watts High Power MOSFET Amplifier and when you plug your wires in just to tell you its alot more powerful briged but if you dont believe me try it for your self. and the final thing you need is a amp wriing kit and heres the one you need Absolute Kit850 2000 Watts Complete 4GA Amp Kit it comes with every thing you need and you can get all of these things on this site the wiring kit the speakers and the amp the olny thing you cant get is the box. i got the box off another website and it was .3 cubic feet too small but if its under .4 cubic feet your box will work hope this review helped you decide what you need and to be honnest if you want a better sub go with kicker either the comp Vr or the CVX ive heard both and they POUND.

  • So Far,So Good! 4/16/07,just got 2 of these boys and by far, they sound GOOD,Nice BASS and I was more than impressed when I just hooked one of these up (I was gettin' eyes and I didn't even have it turnned up yet[AND i'm ONLY using the Stock Radio that came with the car,97 Sunfire GT,not the best radio GM has,but at least it has RCA outputs]). In a sealed box, I'm using a Lanzar VIBE276 2 Channel 2400 Watts High Power MOSFET Amplifier (left a review about that Amp here as well) and a second crossover from Pyramid (The ONLY thing they did good) for Super Low BASS,impressed indeed! I thought about bridging either the Subs,and/or the Amp,but honestly,it cool like it is (and i'm afraid of frying the Sub,but I may give it a try anyway, who knows),and better than anything else i've had ,but if these burn like every other Sub i've had,I will be back, but for now,i'm lovin' these Subs, and thanks to everyone who has left their input on these to help be buy these, and thanks onlinecarstereo for the great deal! BUY THESE!!

  • I have one of these subs in a sealed box from WalMart and you will not believe how hard it hits. It is hooked up to a Boss Audio GT380 amp, it has a bridgeable power of 600. This sub has an RMS of 600. My amp is only turned up 1/4 of the max power, any more and it starts rattling everything in the car. You won't regret getting this sub. Match up the RMS of the sub and amp as close as possible and it will hit hard.

  • First I want to say that I have been installing car stereos for almost 15 years. I've installed multiple Kicker subs, Rockford Fosgate, Pioneer, Plye, Kenwood, JBL, Infinity, Cruch, Lanzar, among many others that I can't remember. Hands down this speaker either beats or matches these speakers. I just switched my rockford fosgate 12' subwoofer out for this one. The reason being is that I bought a $600, 600 watt Kicker Competition Amp and when turned up half way the Fosgate was bottoming out. Also, the sensitivity was too low on the Fosgate so it sounded really low so it was either too loud when low volume or too high when turned up. It was impossible to adjust. Trust me. I then switched to the Boss Blade because it handled about 3 times the power, had wide foam rim, required a small box, and most important had a higher sensitivity than all the speakers I listed above. Man what a difference. The bass was smooth and did not bottom out and get the "wok wok" sound ever like the fosgate did. I also noticed that there was not "flutter" sound like some subs get when moving back and forth. It was very clear and smooth bass with no bottoming out. I tried to blow this speaker and I could not. One more thing, the speaker terminals were high quality banana clip type or pinch which which is the best way to connect a speaker, an installers dream. No extra clips needed, just shove the bare speaker inside the speaker and the spring clip grips it very tight for good and better connection. So I guess your asking what's the catch with the price? Well I can't figure it out except that all the name brands blow millions on advertisements and sell you junk. The brands like Boss, Lanzar, etc I believe are just as good if not better for half the price but don't do advertisement, thus, pass the savings onto you. Here is a break down, Kicker = 150 RMS total watts with 89 sensitivity, Pioneer = 150 RMS watts with 91 sensitivity, Boss = 600 RMS watts with 95 decibels. Any questions????

  • Well said Saefrog! Yes,it's later on in the year (10/11/07) ... still sounds just as good as the day I put them in my car, people say I either sound like "King Kong" or "Thunder!" BOSS are "The Boss!" and it do honestly either tops over or equivalents them names Saefrog bought up,but IMO,these here sounds better than them all w/o spending the cash, and it also outlast most to all them mainstream names ... well, non the less,BOSS is my only brand for Subs now! (I'm planning on getting the 15's of these for my 95' Cutlass (Supreme) or whatever car I decide to get them for! ^^
