Product Reviews For Hifonics BX12D4

  • I have 2 of these powered by a new 1600 watt brutus amp and they hit @ 153.7 in a minivan in a custom slot loaded box i made with 4.65 cf shared space. my old system was 4 L7 12's each running off of a 1500.1 kicker amp (1500 watts each rms) and the brutuses eat them alive with only 800 watts each and only 2 subs vs 4. The sound quality is amazing as well, if you like sony or JL audio you will love these things. The local cartoys shop hates me because i beat out their $10,000 install show truck that has 6 of the new 13" w7's and over 10k watts. I beat them in spl and sq both !!! thats an amazing thing to do in both classes, you usually have to swap subs for sq but with these you don't. trust me! with OCS return policy try em out and if you don't like em just exchange em......

  • this is in fact a decent sub, but definitely not at the same level as Kicker, JL Audio, MTX, etc. I've heard this sub in pairs and in every type box you can think of and it's not all that. One 15 inch L7 kicker sub with a Kicker ZX1000.1 amp outpowered two of these subs. Lets be real about our comments guys.

  • I have heard these subs in multiple vented enclosures, properly tuned both slotted and ported. I have this to say about these subs- they have decent sound quality and can handle the 600w rms. Efficiency wise- they just cant compete- try an MA Audio anything and you'll see exactly what I mean. Oh and by the way-Sound Investment Car Audio guy is playing this sub up like its Lebron James, and he's Kobe Bryant. 153 DB from a pair of these? Maybe if you put the DB meter INSIDE the box port...

  • check the Iasca ratings. the maxxsonic team won an unheard of 208 wins the first year out using nothing but 12" brutus subs and MB quart mids (maxxsonics owns both companies and they are made side by side)

  • I have 1 of these in a custom built sealed enclosure in Ford Explorer. I actualy bought it for 100 bucks when it first came out. It is a very capable sub. It hits clean and pretty loud with 1000.1 crunch amp at 2 ohms. It is the best sub I've owned. I have used cheap subs by Kicker, MTX, Pioneer, and JBL and this one owns them far and away. It has great power handling capability and heavy duty push terminals for the wire. IMO, it looks very cool also when you turn the lights on that are built into the speaker. Its just great for a low budget sub. I saw someone comparing it to a Kicker L7 and it losing. Yeah well the L7 costs about 3 or 4 times as much too. Bottom line, great budget sub.
