I changed my stock speakers in my VW GTI with these.First I changed right side speakers and i decided to see the difference. I was surprized that the stock speakers on my left door has more clear sound and was more loud.Don't waste money buying these speakers!
These are great speakers to fill the void between your Sub and your midrange. They need to be powered with at least 100w rms though, which probably why Martin from NY had a bad experience with them.
In response to the other guy who said that these speakers suck. Well if it were hooked to the factory system of course they sound bad. You have to run them on an amp. Not an aftermarket head unit, an amp. I have four in the rear deck of my 82 caddy hooked up to an Autotek 4 channel and they sound like subs. I have a 1500watt Autotek on 3 shallow mount pioneers and they compliment the midbass almost perfectly. Just dont over power them. This is coming from a guy with 13 years in the industry of autos
I bought a set of the OPTI64's along with a set of the OPTI62's and hands down for the price you get amazing quality these speakers hooked to my aftermarket head unit are clean clear and powerful especially with an upgraded speaker wire, in my case i went from 20g to a 16g im very impressed with the speakers over all.
Very good midbasses. I used for rear fill to compiment three-way components in the front stage. Good bridge between front stage and 15 inch subs. I'm sure there are better out there, but if you have to get sound on a budget like me, very good mids for the money. I have them on a pretty strong amp and upgraded wire and they sound great. Not sure how they would perform as an OEM replacement.
