  • I had a Pioneer head unit from 2004 in here before, it was stolen along with $2k worth of other audio stuff so I was forced to buy a new one. I chose this Alpine because Alpine is one of the only companies I've never purchased a head unit from, and it looked and felt very nice. The sound quality is actually noticeably better than the Pioneer, and the iPod thing is cool. I love the way the volume nob feels, it's very high quality and has a nice grip. The buttons feel great and the whole thing is extremely easy to use. My only qualms are the amount of glare that sometimes gets on the screen, and the fact that the ipod cable isn't integrated or anything so you have to run it from the back of the head unit. I would prefer something where I don't have to run a cable through the dash, instead just plugging the ipod directly into the front.
