This sub is the best shallow-mount sub ever made, but if you can fit something a little bigger, do it. it works great for its size, but it can't handle the deep tones as well as a larger sub. if your cramped for space and can't fit a sub larger than 4" deep, buy this sub.
i have two of these in an 06 F-150. I LOVE THESE!They sound super clean and still get LOUD! If you only have enough room to fit a shallow sub. i would absolutely recomend buying these. I have them powered by a JL 500/1 and a pionner avic D3 head unit. AWESOME!!!!!
I am using one of these to add just a little bass fill. It is complimenting four 6x9 pioneer premier speakers in my 04 ranger. It is right on the money! The sub will reproduce the bottom end just a well as other sub. The key is the enclosure. Go sealed with at least 1 cubic foot of volume to accent the deeper bass notes. You can drive this speaker at its max all you want and it will take it. I had to play aroung with the geomitry of the box I made for the sub. It was a little boomy when turned up and you could tell where the speaker was. The trick is to have the base 4 inches deeper than the top of the box and stuff it with polyester (pack it tight). Perfection!!
As stand alone subwoofers not the best but as upfront(sealed .5-cu.enclosures under the seats) subs playing upper bass notes(30-150HZ at 300-watts each)vary good.Have my'ne in a '96 Toyota Camry V6 LE with three 12's(20-60HZ at 2'400-watts in a 3-cu.ported enclosure) under the rear deck and the bass notes are harder hitting and better sounding the before. In fact with the 10s covering the mid/subbass frequencys my midrange woofers(kicker panel and doors)sound like they hit harder and play lower then they do(5 1/4-inches playing 100HZ up).All and all a good woofer if used the right way.
these are amazing i bout 2 of them and have them power by a crunch 1100 amp and they sound great. i have them each inside there own ported box box i made. they are perfect for any small car or pickup truc
