  • Great component set for the price and it even comes with additional brackets so that you can have multiple installation options as well as be used as spacers. I have a 2 year old Type r components and this new model are 10x better than the old model. Better mids and clearer highs when power by an amp make this a great choicefor any audio enthusiast.

  • I listen to Jazz most of the time (good combination of bass, instruments and vocal), excellent speakers here :) ENHANCEMENT: The new Type R tweeters are not as sharp as the previous SPR-17LS's tweeters, an improvement over the previous model (that some complaint the tweeters of previous SPR-17LS tweeters being too sharp). POINT TO NOTE: Might need to consider installing the tweeters on the A-pillar as there are no plastic stand provided for the little tweeters. The actual woofer's cover design look much better than the photo shown. CONCLUSION: Excellent speakers. Good value for money!

  • I got a pair of these in the front of my camry along with the type r 6x9 in the back all powered by an alpine mrp-f600 amp. they have excellent sound quality except for the rated 110 rms watt handling the tweeters are already blown with about 100 watts to them.

  • These are, by far, the best speakers I have had in any car. I have had almost all of alpine's line up. I had type-S component then type-R coax then type-R component. I also had polk component speakers and infinity components as well. I recently decided to upgrade to the type-X Pros and ended up reverting back to the type-R components. They have easily outperformed any other speaker I have had, even the type-X Pros of the same size. Make sure you give them enough power (at least 110 Watts per channel @ 4 ohms; my amp puts out exactly 110 Watts per channel @ 4 ohms) and you will not be disappointed in the least. The loudest AND clearest speakers I have heard to date. Amazing.

  • I have tried most of the other high-end brands out there and was getting a bit worried that I could not get the right components for the front doors without paying a fortune. These speakers are simply the best you can buy and not just in this pricerange but with all things considered. Highs, mids, and lows all sound perfect and the only thing you have to bare in mind is to hook them up to the rigt amp and get the installation right.

  • Got these in the front with alpine spr-69c in the rear all powered by an alpine pdx-5 and let me say these components are excellent. Many people will say the tweeters are to harsh, but that is just because they are lazy and do not set the crossover correctly(the jumper). Out of the box(at 0db) they were definately to harsh, but after some tweaking I settled on -4db and they sound amazing. Take the time to get them installed and setup correctly and you won't be dissapointed.

  • I have tried a lot of different brands of component sets in my days and I must say these are by far the best sounding speakers on the market for the price. You can’t go wrong the treble, mids and bass are perfectly blended. For the price you can’t go wrong.

  • I put a set of these in my Eclipse. I found a way to mount the tweeters in the dash location where the factory Infinity tweeters were. I'm powering the pair with an Alpine F300 bridged. Wow! The sound quality is superb and the price was reasonable. As others have mentioned, I adjusted the tweeter jumper in the crossover (I settled on -6) and found them to be sweet and crisp. Honestly, I have no need for a second set of speakers. This set up provides a ton of SPL with great imaging (especially because the tweeters can be aimed). Nice stuff.

  • This is the best componet sys. I've ever owned. But you must have a BIG HI QUALITY AMP. to push these things. They take a lot of clean power to make them perform. DO NOT scrimp on your AMP. I have these hooked up with a 4 ch. polk amp. @ 95 rms W/ A SUB and it's the shit..

  • I have these in the stock location in the front doors of my 09 xB RS 6. They are great for grown people volume. Upgrade to the higher wattage if you want to crank it up. I have a PDX 4.100 running these and two way 5 1/4 matched in the rear doors and it is working great but I am adding a KAC-9105D and a T1 12 inch Fogate at 2 ohms 900 watts for the rear ( turned down to about 500-600 watts ). A KGC-4042A later to adjust the sub volume at the front of the EQ and it send full frequency to the doors when sub is turned off.
