Product Reviews For JVC KD-NX5000

  • Just incredible. I can't believe JVC got all of that technology in this unit. It interfaces with ipod, sirius and bluetooth like a dream, and aside from a little issue with finding my BMW's speed sensor wire for the navigation hook up, it guides like a dream (and the guide assistance voice is not that annoying). For such a small screen (by flip-out standards) the video is crystal clear and the nav is remarkably accurate. As with all monitors, large and small, you tend to get use to the size of this screen and it is crystal clear. No major issues with sun glare especially if you have tinted windows, but watching at night is a real treat. The big sound makes the screen view like my plazma at home. My daughter watched a horror movie while I drove to VA last weekend and the sound and picture scared her to death. No joke - this is the best bang for your buck and the closest you can get to a street legal, front seat dvd player.

  • The JVC KD-NX5000 won the Cnet award for best receiver in its class, and I would have to agree. This receiver has almost every listening option imaginable. You can listen to AM/FM on the tuner, controle listen to and charge an Ipod (works with all the 08' Ipods except Touch and Iphone), Record and listen to MP3s,WMAs, and other formated music on its 24GB Hard Drive recorder. Yes Sir, 24GB! Burn around 300 songs to a CDR-R in Data format, it'll play them. Watch/Listen to music Videos, and movies on its gorgeous screen and use the video/out to watch them on a larger 7to10 inch visor monitor.(in Dolby or DTS) If you have a Bluetooth inabled phone, including The Iphone, you can take incoming calls and text through this receiver without taking your eyes off of the road. It'll accept XM and Sirius Sat. The best part is the on screen and voice guided navigation systemhas features that $500.00 Garmins and Magelins don't have, like giving you directions to your destination from the person or businesse's phone#.(I freak people out with that one!) All this, and the face detaches to come with, when you leave your car. If BatMan had a receiver this would be it! Maybe I'm just greedy, but HD Radio, and a USB port would have made The NX5000 over the top do the math, $695 for a Unit that has about $4,000 in features.... It's a steal!

  • This Head Unit is simply amazing. It has everything! Out of the box its features are staggering, but by a few cheap adapters, like the Ipod (KD-100)$20 on EBay or the Bluetooth adapter $90 and you're golden. To my surprise, I found out that you can listen to A Zune, Apple Touch, or I-Phone through the Bluetooth Phone Adapter! When Using the internal amp, which is very powerful the unit does get very warm, an external amp takes a lot of the load off of this receiver. All and all this maybe the best Navigation Head Unit out there.

  • Wow hands down one of the best headunits on the market to date! I purchased this unit for my Honda S2000, it's sleek not clustered with tons of buttons and yet still relatively easy to get around the menus. Nav is easy to read along with DVDs as well and can also be fitted for a camera. In addition finding directions with the nav was never so easy just enter in the phone number of where you wanna go PRESTO, flawless! Be warned though, for cars like mine with a small din the wires can get clumped together very easily which can make for a very tight fit. Kudos JVC

  • This unit was listed to fit in a 2008 Chrysler 300 but the Nav unit does not work without purchasing an additional 220.00 part. This should have been disclosed at the sale. There is also terrible FM radio reception and absolutely NO AM. I am removing it and reinstalling the one that came with the car.
