Product Reviews For MTX TDX65

  • I purchased (2) pairs of the MTX TDX65's to replace stock speakers in a 97 Z-28 running a stock CD Player/Radio deck. In my opinion, these speakers are the best in their class as far as being an affordable true 60Watt RMS replacement. The rear cone suspension is twice the size of the equivalent 60Watt Polk speakers that I replaced, and the magnet is huge, not one of those small magnets encased in a fake plastic shell. The speaker itself is very low profile and door mounting was not a problem. Treble and Bass can be turned to 100% and the volume raise to a quality level without any apparent distortion. (I do not operate them this way, but do this as a simple base line performance test) Excellent bass response and depending on the enclosure you are mounting to, you can actually get a decent bass drum "thump". (the Z-28 rear sail panels have a significant amount of space behind the speaker mounting surface) About as close as you can get to a subwoofer while only using a 6.5" full range without additional amplification. Great quality, value and sound without having to go overboard on a system project.
