The Evolution TR systems have stood the test of time by delivering unsurpassed value and performance in their price class. The TR690-TXi system features 6 x 9-inch (150 x 230 mm) woofers with mineral-filled polypropylene cones, long excursion capabilities and stamped steel frames.
The woofer design benefits from JL Audio's vast woofer design experience and advanced modeling systems. The 6 x 9-inch (150 x 230 mm) format is a direct fit in many vehicles. The Mid-Range driver is ferrofluid-cooled, with a 2-inch Mylar® cone diaphragm to smoothly bridge the gap between the woofer and the dome tweeter.
Tweeters are mounted next to the mid-range driver and built with 0.5-inch textile diaphragms that deliver clean response, on and off axis. The small size of the TR tweeter minimizes tweeter protrusion, allowing TR coaxials to fit behind most factory speaker grilles. Woofer grilles are included, each consisting of a black grille tray with satin silver accents and a black steel mesh grille with an electroformed JL Audio logo.

I love my new 6x9 JL's. They replaced my stock speakers and it's incredible at how great they sound. I gave improvement a 9 because i also need to replace my front speakers - so then, combined, they will be awesome. i can't wait!!
These replaced my stock 6x9's so of course its gonna be better but compared to other 6x9's i have heard before which includes Soundstream and Mb Quart i can actually say that these sound a lot better the mids are really nice the highs are good to i really reccomend these
I put these in my wifes Camry and they are excellent even with the factory radio. Much better than the Pioneers I previously installed. Solid bass good sharp highs without sounding harsh and smooth midrange. This is the first 6x9 I've seen with a real crossover on it. Low pass on the woofer, bandpass on the mid and highpass on the tweeter. Definately makes a difference.
I put these into my grand prix 04 with tr 6.5" in the front.Added a 70x4 kenwood w/rf hx2 12" ported and a rf 450.1 and of course a rf cap. unbelievable sound quality at 30 goes to 35 and I want to keep my ear drums.The sub actually falls short at around 26. I really can't grasp that this is jl's bottom of the line speaker!!!
I just got these 6x9 an a pair of the 6 inch TR coax in my 06 Tacoma and they scream.... you don't even need an amp because they sound sweet by running them off a aftermarket deck. I upgraded mines to a Kenwood KDC-MP728 and it makes a big differnce. The highs are crisp and vocals are clear. I'm plan to hook up a 300/4 amp so my 500/1 has a companion in disturbing da police, i mean peace... JL audio for life baby.....
Power these with enough power and they sound awesome! I have them powered with a Kenwood KAC7202 amp, 150W/ch. Huge difference over using the head unit to power them...HUGE! They hit very hard and don't lose sound quality when turned up. Smooth treble.
When I purchased theese speakers, I didnt have them powered by an amp. The sound was incredible! When I finally hooked them up to a JL 300watt 4 ch amp, the sound quality was immaculate! They hit very hard and didn't lose sound quality when turned up at all, and I always blast my music everywhere.
Connected to a RF 60watt amp, sounded amazing, made me wanna redo my front speakers too.
These speakers sound very good and they were not that much money. They produce perfect crisp highs, mids are on spot, and the bass is killer. I would recommend these speakers to anyone.
The highs on these speakers are great. Unfortunately, the bass lacks terribly. Even the stock speakers produced better lows than these speakers.
