This really is an impressive head unit. I have ownwed and/or listened to almost every brand of head unit made, and I must say this is definitely at the top. I used to have an Alpine CDA-9815, which was very good. It was stolen about three weeks after I bought it and I decided to go with the Kenwood after serious research. I am glad I did because the Kenwood not only was cheaper, but it sounds just as good if not better and is 1000 times more user friendly than the Alpine. The Alpine didn't even have bass and treble control whereas this Kenwood allows you to control not only the level of bass/mid/treble, but also control the frequencies of all three. This unit recognizes mp3 cds faster than the Alpine and the security feature are better as well with a detachable face and the MASK face. If you want to talk specs, the signal-to-noise ratio is 105db, which is comparable to the Alpine and better than the s/n ratio of alomst every other headunit on the market. Also, the preamps are 5volt, which is better than the Alpine's 4volt. Both of these specs ensure that you are going to get a good clean signal which equals good, clean sound. Overall, the ease of use, plus the performance, makes this unit by far the best head unit I have ever used. Kenwood has really stepped up over the years. If you compare the raw specs of this unit to any other on the market in its price range, I believe you will find that it looks just as good, if not better. What puts it over the top is the ease of use. Trust me, there will be no post-buyer remorse as a result of purchasing this head unit.
