  • Picked one up a few days ago. I love the features, Everything you need for top notch sound is there. And yes, this unit produces Absolute top notch sound.... The only thing Pioneer could have done better to support these new MP3/WMA files would have been to incorporate the feature into their changers...

  • This is a great deck, including the display, settings and easy tuning. But if u want to power some high quality speakers u need to buy an external amp but this deck is worth every penny u pay.

  • Let me start with the Good...The sound quality of this head unit is awsome! The sound controls are very detailed the 6v preouts help bring out the clerity. The bad... ok this is gonna take some typing...the color screen is cool and all but come on now! the resolution is horrible, its way behind the competition...sony, jvc and others are way ahead in display qaulity on their head units. Now if u have been paying attention to the specification on pioneer units... In 2004 they have been DOWNGRADING the features and pre-out voltage on their decks..tsk tsk tsk. This cd player has a horrible laser in it, this unit will skip on the most slightly scratched cd's, It does ok with scratches on original cd's but as soon as u stick a burned cd in mp3 or standerd it will skip with the tiniest scratches. I have been through two DEH-760mp's and my buddy has been through two deh-860mp's all with the major complaint of skipping. To see wether or not it was just a problem with mp3 players in general I took cd's that skipped a lot on the pioneer decks and stuck them into a 30 dollar walk about mp3 player and it most of them played with zero skips!!!! I took my little experiment further by going to the nearest "Best Buy" store with a cd that skipped often on my pioneer 760mp deck and my buddies 860mp deck and placed it in a Sony deck, and a jvc deck and the cd skipped zero times!!! after feeling rather heated(pissed) I stuck the cd in a pioneer 7600deck next to the the jvc and sony deck and it skipped very often!!!! yeah not a happy camper. Another problem with this deck(860mp)which i havent had with my 760mp is the cd player gives the ERROR 17 code atleast once a week. when this happens the cd player will no longer read cd's untill u pull it out of your dash and completely disconnect all power to the deck in order to completely reset it, this means that u have to reset all of your settings, its an on going problem and its BS!! we sent back the first one because of it...the replacement does the same thing!!! My friends and I have been through a total of 4 2004 line pioneer mp3/cd players. They are all have horrible reading lasers! I'm done dealing with pioneer, were sending back the deck and getting a sony, sony doesnt skip!! jvc doesnt skip as well, although i havent tested any alpine decks. My conclusion is the 2004 line of pioneer mp3 players are of poor quality and u should avoid buying any cd players from them this year unless u want to experiance the problems my buddies and I have experianced. But hey! the sound quality is still excellent when its not skipping lol.

  • This is a awesome headunit for the money. The 6.5volt preamp outs are great if you need to mount the amp far from the HU. Also the Auto EQ and Time Alignment using the supplied microphone works awesome. Incredible sound. Also it is equipped with Pro Mode if I want to triamp and biwire later on down the road. The IPBus systems is great for integrating the SAT and Changer. I combined this system with a Alpine F450 amp and a JL Audio Stealth box in a 2004 4Runner LE, we used the stock JBL door speakers and it sounds GREAT.

  • Guys...this unit is awesome. I don't care what anyone says: the screen is breath-taking. The colors are vibrant and different movies and such are impressive. This unit has not skipped ONCE for me. The reset button is on the FRONT of the unit if you need to reset anything--not the side. Very good value...everything is adjustable. I got his unit off of eBay for $300 brand new (sorry Online Car Stereo), and it's great. Nothing bad to say.

  • Excellent with XM Radio. Going from FM radio and the factory installed CD unit to this was like waking up from a bad dream. I'd recommend this unit to anyone.

  • very good CD player. nothing bad to say about it except no easy acess puase, but it is there, you have to press a couple buttons first. one thing that makes it all worth while is the ablilty to create your own movie for it on your computer and it is very user friendly. If you dont buy this one buy a pioneer most reliable decks on the market.

  • This is an awsome stereo! It has more features than most people probably know how to work and it sounds great out of the box. My only complaint is that it is very picky about playing MP3's. I have a bunch of MP3 cd's that worked fine in my Alpine stereo, but won't play in the Pioneer. The ones that will play seem to skip on most songs. If you are using standard CD's it seems to be ok, but I can't stand having only one CD on a disc. A MP3 CD changer should take care of the problem though.

  • Overall its well built and sound quality is top notch but features could have been made easier to use and does take a while to get used to . With so many features some people may consider the lower Premier DEH-P8MP model . Don't like thugging the right shaft function to get at the features but thats how they made it . Sound quality is sweet . 6.5v preouts make a ton of difference . 2 RCAs and sub output is super and does a good job of filtering other notes besides bass so you really don't need any external xover in your system cause the built in 13 band EQ does come in handy alot and does a great job . Nice various displays but honestly does suffer in bright daylight, obviously in night is great . Its still a very good buy though .....

  • Bought this player a week ago. Best investment for my system I ever made. Upgraded from a JVC deck that was very good already, but the 860 beat it in all categories. Top notch sound quality. Beautiful display. Easy to use and adjust to your liking. Does everything that several hundred dollar more head units do, for much less cost. I recommend this player to anyone, casual music fan or system competition junkie.

  • I put this in my 96 accord with upgraded speakers. The sound is amazing, with 6.5v it doesn't get much louder. Excellent display too.

  • I had many different head units (including top end Clarion and Sony Units). I must say this is by far the best because of 2 reasons: 1. 6.5volt pre-amp out put. If you use amplifier to powers speakers. The sound is much more clear and crisp. 2. Auto EQ and Positioning. I tell you, this is the most important fuction for me. Especially if you like to listen to music loud (which many us would since we are investing money on car stereo). The Auto EQ and Positioning compensate the bad speaker locations, and is great for vocal and instrumentals. I don't know how can I live without this feature in the future!!!
