Product Reviews For Alpine Type-S SPS-571A

  • I just put a set of Alpine SPS 571A component speakerss along with the SPS-570A coaxials speakers in my ford focus. I thought that the 5x7 front and rear set up was gonna make it hard for me to find a decent pair of speakers, let alone find components that would fit without the need of adapters, cutom fittins or kick panels. The tweaters of clear, clean crisp highs. I played on of myfavorite jazz CD's, The Best of Dave Brubeck, you can hear the sticks hitting the cymblas, every bristle of the brushes on the snare, the kick drum wasn't over powering but could use some help. The piano but was prevealent. You get to hear every range it has. The Bass could use some help. I had some sustain to it and hits could be heard. It's still not the same a a full on sub wofer. I put in a my Sublime CD. The cossovers really help sort out the sound. I finally got to hear the cool bass lines in the mid range that usually get over powered by the subs and voals. I highly recomend thes components, and if you have a ford that uses 5x7 in front and back, I suggest getting the coaxials to get a more balanced sound in your vehicle. and for the price you can get them, they are definitley worth it.

  • I just put a pair of these in the rear deck of my car (infinite baffle), they are being driven with 40w rms from a kenwood KAC6402 amp with vinyl sound dampening to the inside of the rear deck soon to come, hopefully further improving already great bass response. I love Alpines approach with this set, the tweeters are small and are not flashy, and the woofers and crossovers are beautiful. Note that there are 3 adjustments for the tweeters (0db, -3db, -6db), most other sets only have two if any at all. These speakers take every bit of the power I throw at them and they sound incredibly clear. The mids and highs are so crisp that snare drums have a piercing sort of punch to them. The bass extension is very impressive, these will play nearly any note, and when I have the system cranked up to high volume, these type-s components put out enough bass to sound like a have a small sub. I mounted the tweeters using the angled surface mount. The tweeter mounting was probably the hardest part about installing this set, but that is because there was no stock mounting location on my rear deck so I had to drill some holes and fish some wire. The speakers overall are of very high quality, probably some of the best sounding components you could get in the sub-150$ price range. The only bad part is that they did not come with any wiring or terminals, save for the leads out of the tweeters. Otherwise this is a great set, with 3 included tweeter mounting options and an adapter, if needed, for the woofers.

  • This is a great set of speakers for the money but don't even think about hooking them up to a head unit directly. You must put an amp on these bad boys, and once you do you will not be disappointed. They really scream and the woofers are accuate. I put these in the front door of my 2005 F-150 and they fit well. I hand to cut my speaker grill to install the tweeters in the door but the woofers mounted very easliy and the crossovers fit perfectly below my window switches in side the door/armrest peice. GREAT VALUE
