Product Reviews For Alpine CDA-9855

  • This is easily the best headunit on the market for 2005. More than enough functions and glide touch is the easiest and best was yo navigate any menu. Sound quality id absolutly perfect.

  • PROS: Both XM and Sirus compatible. Tons of features - make sure to read the entire manual. Display is crisp. Can customize the button colors. Glide Touch is simple to use. CONS: Display hard to see in bright daylight. Some options are buried deep in the menus. RMS output down from 26W to 18W this year.

  • I installed this unit along with a pair of MB Quart 5 1/4's and a pair of MB Quart 6 x 9's sound quality out of this deck is awesome. I like the output voltage as well, as I am running 2 JL 12w3v2 d4's off an old school PPI PC2150. Very crisp, very clean sound and easy to use.

  • THIS UNIT IS PERFECT FOR USE WITH YOUR IPOD. ONCE YOU TURN ON THE MEDIA EXPANDER LOOK OUT. YOU NEVER NEW YOUR IPOD COULD SOUND SO GOOD IN YOUR VEHICLE WITH NO SIGNAL LOSS. UNLIKE WITH THE FM TRANSMITTERS THAT WE ALL PURCHASED TO LISTEN TO OUR PODS IN THE CAR. YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOUVE BEEN MISSING.

  • This is by far the greatest head unit i have ever owned and the sound quality just blows me away i am running 2 JL Audio 10w6v2 subwoofers and infinity kappa speakers all the way around and everything sounds perfect coming through the head unit especially when you have a JL Audio 1000/1 amp powering the subs and a JL Audio 500/4 amp powering the speakers and helping out the head unit. THE BEST

  • This is a very unreliable head unit. My first 9855 stopped working after a week when the unit stopped ejecting cds. I returned it and got another 9855. After a week, this unit has gone crazy. No buttons or the remote control will work any more. Poor product... I am very unhappy with this year's product line from Alpine.

  • One important thing to note: This is a top-of-the-line system, and if the only reason you're getting it is for the 512 adjustable colors and cool graphics, you're wasting your money. You'll need to add external amps, aftermarket speakers, and a subwoofer to fully appreciate this item. Once you do this, you'll be very please with this purchase (I definitely am).

  • Really enjoy, great value, it is a bit difficult to get your money out of it because it has so many features, but once you figure it out is the best unit i have ever had. I have had a slight problem with the display not working though. Along with another comment... you really do need external amps, aftermarket speakers, and a line driver adding more voltage to your amps will improve it even more

  • This is by far the best head unit I have ever used. The x-over plus your choice eq setting. Timeing adjustments along with countless features to customize it to your sound is unbelivable.

  • This deck is the best. I haven't had any problems with it. I have Alpine component speakers front and rear, 12" Alpine Type R sub with 2 Memphis Belle Competition amps. Amazing!

  • Alpine CDA-9855 has to be one of the top of the line head units out there. The unit gives great sound with many user freindly features such as downloading of alpines website to help you modify you setting. Online car sterio is the only reliable place to trust with on the time shipping to your doorstep

  • great sound and awesome to use with the ipod interface. The glidetouch looks fancy but it is not as easy to use as you would think, specially if you are driving, and since you can not access the different menus through the remote, you will probably have to stop your car before you can find track number #1340 on your ipod.

  • Great deck, the best I have had to date, the only downfall is that some of the features are difficult to find, and at one time i was having problems with the display not working at all.

  • This unit is has the clarity, I crank this baby all the way up, still has clarity: no distortion,My Kenwood components and Alpine amp is doing the job I need it to do,You have to have an amp to get the optimal out of this system, The glide touch can be a little annoying.

  • This head unit is awesome. Thanks to those that posted their review of this product... I could not have done it without them. I've this unit installed professionally in my 06 tahoe. I have 1 pair of JL Audio VR650CSi(front Door) and JL Adudio VR650cx1 (Rear door)powered by JL Audio 300/4 Amp.2 JL Audio 12W3V2 (ported Custom Box)powered by JL Audio 500/1 Amp. I also, have the KCS-420i connected to the head unit. Let me tell these two products work great. My music sounds so good it is unbelievable. The Glide control takes a while to get used to but after that its all gravy. I definitely recommend this product to anyone seeking a quality car stereo.

  • I 've had the 9855 for a week now and I'm very impressed with it thus far. When I first tried to program the 9855 it was very confusing, but know I'm starting to get the hang of it. This radio has so many feature, a lot of the features I'm not using. One draw back that I have notice is the biolite display doesn't show well in the daylight and if you tilt the screen you have to go deep into the setup menu. On the 9811 model I previously owned it had the tilt feature on the remote. Now that I can navigate around and find the features that this radio offer, I'm very pleased with it. Lastly, I wish I could hook up xm radio, CD changer, and I pod to this unit without having to spend $150 additional dollars for the Alpine adapter.

  • I have been a fan of Alpine ever since the first pullout radios. Sound quality is outstanding. I like the 4V pre-outs and the features. However, making adjustment to your radio takes some time when going through the menus and the remote cannot tilt the head unit. Well worth the price if you are not planning to use DVD's. I have a set of JL Audio TR 5.25's up front, 6.5's in back, and a pair of Kicker 05CVR12's in a ported box, which is powered by Precision Power 300.4 and 500.2 amps with Steetwires power wire.

  • I have this brain workin' a 350/1 alpine amp with a 8" kicker comp for the mids and a 1800/1 alpine amp with a 12" kicker L7 for bass. Alpine 6x9's for the rear and JL 5.25's with some scattered tweeters in a 04 wrangler. this unit is insane with the features. crossovers are outstanding. couldn't ask for more. only complaint.... hold the wrong button down for too long and the display goes blank when not in use. easy enough to figure out though.

  • I've read some of the reviews on this page, and I will say that this deck goes well with just about anything. I've had this deck for about 3 years now, and it has been passed through about 4 cars, and it's still kickin. The clarity is out of this world, and the bass distribution ratio is very professional. I do not have to worry about turning my sound up, because the bass is automatically smoothed out. I don't have a lot of money right now, so I use what I can afford. I have Pioneer 6.5" 2-way speakers (not sure of model) in my door, with Pioneer 6x9 3-ways in the rear of my 91' Acura Legend. I also installed Alpine tweaters on the panel just above my dash. I have two 12" Motorjoy Subwoofers, 1200 watts each in a slotted box, pushed by a Quantum Audio Class D Mono Block Amp, 1800 watts. The sound is unbelievable. I got the deck from a friend who was frustrated because he couldn't figure out how to work it, and when you first install the deck, the bass is too high. It took me about 2 hours to figure out how to operate about 90% of the radios features, which is a very long time. I can usually figure these things out in about 20 minutes or less. The glide touch is an amazing feature, and everyone that watches me while I am operating it is impressed. I am spoiled to this thing. Unless I am down on money, Alpine is the only deck I will ever purchase again.
