Product Reviews For Alpine SWE-1242

  • This subwoofer is a great sub for the price! It has got a really great range and I have heard it in many different applications, but it sounds best in a well-built bandpass enclosure. At only 250 watts, you dont need gigantic power to run them. In my opinion, mix one of these with a solid alpine 500 watt 2ch. amolifier.

  • Pushing this one with just half the power it asks for with the MRP-220 made it kick in my old Jetta... It's a good bargain bass for anyone who wants good bass range without killing their battery and wallet.

  • ****I purchased these 2 subs with a sealed box and 400 wat mono alpine amp for my scion tc. HIts really solid n clear . And for the price defenitely smokes for competition. I still crave something louder and soon will be upgrading to a 1000 watt alpine amp and the type R's. JL's are nice but over priced and the sound difference on JL's is a little better but not worth the price difference. Alpine Is defentiely a force to be reckoned with and i will remain loyal to the brand.

  • I'm running two of these in a ported box off a Rockford Fosgate T3002 (Power 300w RMS x 2 Amp). For the price these subs are very loud. Unfortunately, the subs seem to only be able to hit the mid bass notes--lower and higher bass notes sound less loud and have less quality to them. I've ran these subs in two seperate boxes (both ported), and I have had close to same results in both. If you are looking for serious bass for little cash, I would recommend the Type R subwoofer if you are into Alpine... Hifonics also has a great "HF" subwoofer for a little less cash than the Type R, but this sub also has much better sound quality and loudness than the Type E. For beginning car audio enthusiasts, I would recommend this subwoofer in a box with the correct enclosure size to make a pretty decent thump in your vehicle--but remember to buy an amp that's large enough for future upgrades.

  • This is a really good sub for the money and its prolly the best sub if your just starting out. I have four 12's in my explorer hooked up to a zapco 6 ch. amp and they HIT. I set of car alarms going through town

  • The Alpine 12" Type E I have is being ran at a low RMS off a small 200w Pioneer in my dorm room. However, with those specifications the sound still fills my air capitiy in the room and down the hallway. After talking with an engineer friend this speaker would and does perform the best in a sealed box. The sub is a mid-level speaker but it accomodates both the loud and deep quite well. You can't find it cheaper on any other website or local store...Day after Thanksgiving sales possibly...but its a quality sub sold at an appealing price!
