Product Reviews For Kenwood Excelon KAC-X1R

  • This amp is great I have it connected to And Alpine X and it thumps. The power and features are very similar to the KAC-X811D it just newer, smaller and alot slicker. No more rough look like the old one. Try to compete with me? Anyone

  • I have this amp hooked to a pair of cirwin vega V-MAX 15's. 600 rms each sub. The vegas eat this amp up. It is wired at 1 ohm and hits so solid it is rediculous. however the amp over-heats and have blown the 3/25 amp fuses twice in one week. the gain is maxed out and the vegas hold up all day long. I suggest running a pair of these amps for what I was expecting. dont get me wrong this amp will blow you away and any lesser subs. keep it at 2 ohms I bet she'll run cooler and more dependible dont waste time with 4 ohms.

  • I've got two of these amps hooked up as push/pull on a Cerwin Vega Stroker 15. They work great, wired to 1ohm loads, but my pull amp is having a bit of a problem. Every now and then, I get an EO 2 error, saying the amp is sending direct current to the sub. Let it cool down and reset it and the problem goes away. I get great sound out of the sub, but with the amp messing up like it does on occasion, I am afraid to enter competition until I get this figured out.

  • I have a total of 4 of these set up in my truck. Each of them connected to a set of KFC-XW1202DVC.....That's a total of 8 12's and 4 amps and at this point they are so loud you can sit within 20 feet of the truck at half volume much less in the truck. Great amp and Kenwood has really put alot into their Excelon products, if you have doubts try them and you will see.

  • Nice display with vitals. Hits pretty hard, seems less power than expected for 2ohm 1000W...but have 12" Infinity DVC sealed enclosure, power sucker. No power supply issues for high volume play.

  • This amp isn't what I expected. I've delt with kenwood all my life in audio and it has by far been some of the best stuff. Excelon series stepped it up a lot from regular kenwood, except with this amplifier. I had it hooked up to a pair of MTX 7500's and they made that sucker blow in 2 weeks no problem, fuses, amp started smoking with the gain up 3/4 the power and the subs weren't rattled at all. Wouldn't recommend unless I just got a lemon, but I doubt it.

  • This amplifier blew in like a month of use. Gain wasn't up all the way, and my fuses kept popping. I had it hooked up at 2 ohms to two MTX 7500's and they overpowered it. Amp broke out in flames and ruined my trunk carpet. Not a great product, didn't like.

  • I bought this amp to push 2 kenwood kfc-w3011's.... My old amp was a kenwood excelon kac x10d.... not enough power to push both..... Anyways amp worked great for about a month then a E-02 kept flashing on the amp.. Took the amp into a local Atherized dealer, they had no idea what it ment.... come to find out about a month after the subs where fryed. replaced subs with 2 memphis m3 15"s.. a ported box Built to spec at 40 hz.. Its so deep and talk about pounding so hard.. 2 single 4 oHm subs and wired to 2 oHms... to get the 1200 watts RMS.. people can hear me coming from a mile away. by the way have the old amp kac x10d is on 2 rockford fosgate p2 10's... they also hit very hard in sealed box.. also single 4 ohm subs wired down to 2 ohm for the 600 watts rms..

  • This amp is very nice, runs cool even though i have extra fans on all my amps. Sound quality is Excelon quality, very clear. Never had any problems with it what so ever. I wish it was a little smaller though. Everyone blowing fuses needs to get a pro to install and tune. Not 1 ohm stable and gain is not a volume knob, it's to match voltage output from the head unit. You should get your amps tuned with SMD's DD-1 for distortion free sound. Been installing for 20 yrs, never tune a system without it. Don't forget the CC-1 for exact crossover tuning and volume matching amps.
