These speakers blow last year's type x out of the water in terms of out of the box sound. Don't be dissapointed though to realize there is no phase settings in these crossovers, they're basically optimized to be good out of the box. If you are a hard core tuner that is loyal to Alpine you may want to look into the pro series as opposed to the ref series. But for $500 these are some serious speakers.... or buy them on here for $200 (SWEET!)
These speakers are amazing..... you can hear every little note and the sound is VERY clear! Lots of bass from the mid bass and all the highs from the tweeters and loud and not distorted at all. Saw a set today in a local store for 500.00. PICK THESE UP!
Fantastic speakers. I bought these along with Dynamat Extreme for my front doors. They are being powered by an Alpine MRP-F450. The mid-bass is incredible and the highs are stellar. The only complaint that I have is that the speaker connections in the crossover could be made a little better. The set screw is so small that it wouldn't take much at all to strip or break it. Even that aside I would recommend these to anyone who really wants to bring their sound to a whole new level. Please Dynamat your doors though. With all the mid-bass that these are capable of they will rattle your doors without dampening them.
i love these speakers they sound get i took out my mb quarts (qsd-216) and i think and feel these are way better
These speakers sound great. They are very bright but the cross-over allows you to bring that down nicely. If I have one complaint it would be the instructions. Alpine clearly assumes you not only have installed component speaker before, but are proficient at it. A little more detail would be nice. I have installed the SPX17REFs in the front and the SPS-600's in the rear. Alpine in general really brings the mids and highs to center stage. If you plan on installing these you better have a quality amp and should budget for a sub as well. These speakers are power hungry. Once you have the whole system in place you won't be disapointed
Great speakers, the sound is just amazing. Only problem I am having is the speakers are sitting too long on their shelves, so the rubber is dry, and the rubber cracks within a month or two :/
the woofers in these are amazing... a very nice sounding component all round and compared to the type Rs they filled out the audio spectrum WAY smoother... admittedly i fried a tweeter after a few weeks but i was driving em with about 250w per channel and a messy tune. id definately consider them again.
These speakers make your music come to life especially if you have the right amp, I'm running 2 pairs of these on a Soundstream RUNICON 4.600 with a THD of 0.015% and frequency range of 30khz. It sound amazingly clean started hearing things never heard before in music. Down side is they are not built to take too much power so I fried one of my tweeters a year later, if you want high volume the SPR-60C are better, but the SQ is not as great, will buy these again in a heart beat for the price.
