Product Reviews For JL Audio HO112R-W7

  • I have this beast hooked up with a JL Audio G Series G-MAX 1200w, in my 2006 H2 hummer, and it QUAKES!.. Turns heads at stop lights. I actually got two, $460 tickets for noise ordinance, cop said I was shaking "his" rear-view mirror. He was two lanes over about twenty cars back at a stop light. Best bang I've ever heard. Can't turn it up all the way without ear plugs. Hurts my ears outside the truck.

  • Have this in a Suburban behind the third row pointed at the rear doors. Powering this 100+ lb unit is a new Kicker cx 1200.1 which puts out a continuous 1280 watts but I'm not sure what wattage its pushing at 3 Ohms or 2.47 actual Ohms load. It took awhile to get the sound the way I personally like it so it will sound good across my spectrum of musical tastes but for a factory made box its about as good as one can buy. I guess the guys from JL drive around with these in their cars testing them out before making them for us bass lovers. This particular red/gray version has been discontinued for a newer version. Not sure what they changed on the box because the subwoofer is the same as the previous W7s just color and an anniversary badge on the cone. It handles the power just fine but I'm still breaking it in maybe about at the 40 hour point of the crazy 80 hr long total. Since this subwoofer meets its thermal limit in 2 hrs its taken for fookin ever just to get this far but I dont want to fry the coil. Most people wont wont take it all the way through the break in period and may blow the coil. Its a good component in my system and it fills in the upper mids well giving the attack on bass drum sounds and I hear a lot more nuances in the bigger floor toms. Theres just a lot more sound that I hear with this sub that havent heard with other brands that Ive used. With the price of this thing I better be impressed and I am so far. Is it worth it? Well kind of. I might have been happier with an 18" TC Sounds Ultra 5400 in a custom 10 cube box but this was a I gotta have it now thing so it is what it is. Zero gauge all around, AGM battery, 250 amp alternator and hoe made 10 gauge speaker wire inside box and out. TTFN y'all.
