Using these with a pdx-4.100 that is tested at 121x4 RMS. I have these in the front and 5 1/4 coax in the rear and it is great. Perfect RMS on these and and the amp so it won't blow the speakers. The digital amps don't tax my electrical at all. A pdx-m6 and a swr-12223D for the rear. The whole car ( 09 Red RS6 xB ) is running at 4 ohms and the amps barely get warm. They play at mid volume for 4+ hours on the battery in the back yard while I do work and the car starts just fine. Kinetik 1800 battery and this setup is all ya need. No caps needed.
I've had 2 sets of these speakers (front and back) for awhile with an Alpine digital 5 channel amp and they sounded good but that amp and headunit were a headache. Swichted out the amp for the pdx F6 and the 900w head unit. The head unit helped because it was easier to tune but WOW if you have the right amp behind these speakers they are crystal clear!! I think Im going to purchase a pair of the SPX 17 Pros but I am nervous about it because these speakers are great and currently have no problems with them. 150 dollars for 4 speakers that can crank out clear sound at high volumes you will be hard pressed to find something better.
I have one running off of a pdx 4.100 that is rated at 121 x 4. Thes are higher RMs than the old ones I had. PDX-4.100 and PDX-M6 for the single SWR-1223D 12 in the rear of my 09 xB RS6 ( The Red One ). Perfect setup for the car leaving half of the rear capable of folding down still. Good for my DJ biz. Stock Pioneer AVEC900bt Nav unit in the dash for this Release Series.
Installed these babies running an Alpine pdx-f6 150w/ch, Played them hard for a week. Just when i thought they sounded ok. WHAM i guess they broke in. Sounds amazing. Ordering a second pair for the back channel. Alpine type r all the way. P.S. dont play those highly compressed songs. Get some original music discs or wma files.
