Product Reviews For Kenwood KDC-BT955HD

  • Radio strength is lacking and need signal booster. Controls take a bit to get used too. Over all happy with product for the money.

  • It sounds great! I noticed an immediate difference over my old HU with just my front 6x8's and rear 6x9's. I think one would be hard pressed to find a head unit with all of these features without a touchscreen. The price is very affordable in my opinion. I was in the market b/c I was ready to add subs, but I needed a new faceplate for my old Panasonic. The faceplate alone cost more than buying a brand new head unit of a different brand! I contacted Onlinecarstereo b/c I'm not certain that this was a brand new unit. They offered to replace it, but I already had it installed and didn't feel like taking my dash apart and rolling in silence for however long it took to ship it back and get a replacement. My unit didn't come with a case for the faceplate. The knob fell off easily and repeatedly and ultimately got lost. The hinge on one side of the flip up cover over the CD slot broke, but it still stays on there fairly well. I can't read the display when the sun is up, even on it's brightest setting. It looks great at night though. The remote isn't the most responsive and only works within 3-4 feet of the unit. I love the fact that I have so much versatility in listening options. I normally listen to the rear USB, but when I get tired of it I can jump to HD radio, CD, Aux (listening to Pandora or Google Play//I'll discuss BT in a moment) or a Bluetooth source. I typically prefer the Aux over the BT b/c the subs don't get any signal over BT. I also prefer using the Aux instead of BT calling b/c the persons I speak with complain of the echo. (I think that's b/c of my Samsung S4, I didn't get any complaints when I had my old phone). I do like the fact that if I'm playing from a BT source and I have Waze running, then I can hear the directions over the speakers, but it doesn't do it with the GPS app alone. The Kenwood app for my phone pretty much sucks too; it can play music files from my phone, but not through BT. I can play music files from my phone with the Aux cord w/o an app! Plus, my music is on the drive connected to my rear USB... Would I buy it again? Maybe... I've had it for about a year and a half now; I'd have to see what else is out there first.
