  • great sound. doesnt get the lower notes as well as i hoped. maybe because of small box.

  • I've owned many subs over the years, but none has impressed me like the JL w6v2 13 inch. I have three of them in a custom ported bow in my 2004 pontiac grand prix. I am using JL's 1000/1 amp to power them. These subs cna hit every note with no problems. And they don't distort at all. I have the gain most of the way up with no problems. The bass output, and clarity for these is astounding, everything i'd expect from JL. If you have the money to buy one of these, do not hesitate, it is worth it.

  • hey matt, if those things sound like crap, then it's not something wrong with the sub, it's something wrong with you. either your amp isn't powerful enough, or the box is too small. cuz I have two of these hooked up to a jl 1000/1 amp in a slot ported box and they are stupid loud. I love them and they are worth every penny.

  • i have two 13.6 subs in my 2000 honda civic in a custom tuned ported box and these hit so hard that everyone who sits in my car thinks there w7,s.super quick snap and excellant low frequency extension these subs do not miss a single note at high volume.everyone compares these subs to kicker pioneer and other high end subs but anyone who knows alot about audio knows jl stand alone in high end sub development.

  • These subs are the best that I have ever owned. I've owned Kicker, Fosgate and Eclipse and they don't even come close. The lows are hitting just right and I can play pretty much any kind of music and it sounds pretty darn good. The only bad thing is the price, but I'd be kickin' myself if I got something less expensive and didn't get the quality that I wanted. All I have to say is JL is for real!!

  • I am nothing less than impressed with this sub its unfortunate alot of people overlook this sub for the w7 series as this sub does not get the credit it deserves first and foremost this is an sq sub with almost a perfect flat frequency response that can still get very loud I experimented with this sub in sealed and ported and found I liked the sealed box much better, I also ran various amounts of power ranging from 300 to 1000 watts (to one sub)and found that the sub realy comes alive with around 800-1000 watts of clean power, right now I run mine with a JL 1000.1 in a JL spec sealed box and it slams...but even better yet with incredible sound quality... I firmly belive most people do not run enough clean power to the w6v2's, I also use very steep crossover mine is crossed over at 75hz with a 24db slope this allows the sub to blend in with my front stage and stay very clean at very high volumes another mistake people make with this sub is they turn on the bass boost witch with the w6v2 this completly ruins the point behind the sub as it puts huge humps in the subs frequency response...this is a very good sub for people looking for an sq sub and gets my highest reccomendation. Good job JL

  • This sub is great, is does not quite have the output of a 13w7, but I am also running 1/2 the power then a 1000/1. It sounds great, esp. if it is put into a ported box, it has very quick response and excellent SQ. This sub can be very loud also, perfect combination of SQ and volume when powered by a 500/1

  • I've owned Kicker,Fosgate, and Alpine and they don't compare to JL. I have two of these powered by a JL 1000/1 on a Scion tc and I am the loudest on the block. These subs are a little pricey but If you want the best then get Jl audio.

  • I have one of these in a ported box and it slams, and it slams hard. I just ordered another 1 and will be building a custom box for these in my trunk. When you buy JL you expect nothing but the best in a great combination of spl and sq. I have a t10001bd for the two, currently running a 500/1v2 Jl amp to the sub and my trunk completly dynamated moves about 3/4 inch

  • at one show last year a spl show i decided to show up and shut up those people who think there 13 w7,s are the shit. I ran a single 13 w6 in a box not even tuned for a w6 i ran the rockford fosgate t40001bd on it. I hit a 147 with zero tuning into the car i started to get alot of attention from the crowd they could not belive how hard a sq sub could hit.soon i got jl w7 guys standing around my car saying there shit dont even hit close to a 147.to make a long story short i proved to many people that day 13 w6 is a better sounding driver and can hit way harder cause its more efficent than the w7. I ran a spl box in the next car show i hit a 150 and i even pissed off more w7 guys.w7,s are a plain waste of money go with the w6. i ran over 4000 watts rms into the driver and it lasted 25 minutes before the voice coil siezed playing music.so everyone out there using these subs for spl and sq they can take way more power than jl claims.u can run 1500 watts rms and up to 5000 watts on a tone burst

  • This is the absolut best sub made. The reason it is better than the w7 is because it is half the price. I have a 13 w6 in a ported box with a 500/1 running it and it is louder than the 13 w7 in a sealed box and 1000/1 I used to have. Now I no if the w7 was in a ported box it would be much louder but overall the w6 can deffinatly keep up with the w7. Also I beleive the w6 has better soud quality. If you want over the top bass go with the expensive w7 set up, but if you want sq and spl for under $1000 go with the w6 setup. 13 w6 and 500/1 are a perfect match.

  • I recently picked up a single driver and have a 500/1 to power it. I literally cannot believe the SQ that comes out of this woofer. I've owned 12" W3's and W3v2's, and even 10" W3v3's and nothing has ever come close to these. Although the price is a bit steep, they're worth every penny. I've heard W7's and while they're loud as hell, they don't come close to the quality of sound reproduction that that W6v2's are capable of. stop thinking about it ant just buy some!

  • i have a 13.5 w6v2 witha ported box and a TMA 1000/1 which does 1000.1 at 1 ohm 750 at 2ohms. all hooked up to an alpine head unit. the sub hits so hard girls hair moves!!! and it sounds so clean that the louder you go, the harded it hits. it never distorts. it hits as hard as 2 12s

  • I had two 13W6v2 hooked up to a Memphis M-class 1100D amp, and controlled by a Pioneer Premier Head Unit. They settled in and blended nicely with the highs and created such a full soundstage. But when you wanted to turn them up and really perform, they were ready as I 147.3 with just one at 600 watts and could hit mid 150s with both of them. Definitely worth the money.
