Bought these for replacements in front door of '03 cavalier. Had to buy 6.5" adapters for the 4x6 openings for $9. Were easy to install. Just have Alpine CDA-9842 head unit powering them. Same as Alpine SPS-69C3 6X9's in rear deck they tend to get all muttled at higher volumes with bass set at +4 out of 10. They are a night and day difference from factory speakers though. Would use these as nice midranges with some subs kickin' the bottom end. Great speakers!!
These speakers are a great improvement over even my stock monsoon sound system in my 1998 Passat. Pretty good bass quality and the highs are very good as well. Just keep the base at a moderate setting at high volumes to prevent distortion. Great value for the money!!
I was leary about how good these speakers are supposed to be but after buying and installing 4 of them, I am a beleiver. Great sound, bass and clarity!
Outstanding FULL range speakers. I've installed 4 of them in 2006 Civic sedan and I'm completely satisfied. Much better than Infinity's and Rockford Fosgate I've tried before. They don't even need an amp to play just awsome !!!
These are excellent speakers that will add great full sound to any system. they are not too bright and have excellent range. if you get a good pioneer deck and 4 of these, you may not wants subs. but for real Boom you need some subs to go with. then just increase your filters freq and let them do all mids and high. awesome. great for so cheap.
Overall they're great speakers with high sensitivity and well balanced tweeters. However, I expected better freq response from 50-200hz given the above average weight and woofer diameter. If you buy these, I suggest replacing all your midrange speakers with the same Alpine model line and using a subwoofer to fill in the lower freq range. It was tricky to get these to sound good with my infinity kappa's in the rear.
I bought four these speakers over two weeks ago to replace my factory ones in my '06 Hyundai Sonata. There are pretty good speaker.... definitely a big difference from the factories. They perform well without the need of an amp. The highs are pretty good and the bass is okay as well, but I would definitely suggest subs to go with them.
These speakers sound GREAT.... i only had a few issues with them. the first was that they really dont pound out the lower feq as some other 6.5" coaxles. i found that i could get more bass out of some stock stereos, but cross these bad boys over with a HPF at 100hz and add a sub with a LPF at 80hz or so and these speakers are amazing. cutting out the bass lets these speakers work more on the mid range and the sound is incredibly smooth. the second and last issue i had with these is what i think the peak power rating has been fudged a bit. alpine says that these are good up too 250 watts at 4ohms. i would say more like 150-200 watts peak. i'm running mine at 110X4 RMS at 4ohm and i've replaced one already and anothers sound is starting to crack a bit. i am a car audio installer and i know my amp isnt clipping and i never have my volumes up high enough to start overpowering them. (starts to hurt like crazy about 15 notches before destortion even starts)so either i was unlucky and got two with some early defect or the peak rating is lower then stated. my suggestion is grab 4 of these amazing speakers, add a sub and a 50X4 RMS amp and you'll never have a problem and will be impressed with the sound u get for years to come.
I installed a pair of these 6.5" Alpines in the rear doors of a 1994 GMC Jimmy looking for good solid sound. My kids had wasted my factory paper cone speakers playing the bass-filled music young kids listen to these days. So far, these Alpines appear to be handling a wide mix of music well and are a drastic improvement over the stock speakers that came with the vehicle. Only powered by a GM stock stereo and an Audiovox XM Plug and Play receiver. Most folks should be pleased with the performance.
great speakers im running them off a infinity 6ch 5760a 107w x 2 bridged off channels 1-4 good power handleing highly recommend you cant go wrong with Alpine
These are pricy but overall Im very impressed. They sound very clear and crisp. The tweeter is really good but could be a little clearer. Other than that great speaker, I highly recomend. Also the adapter it comes with will fit any 6.5 inch opening for sure.
these speakers are awesome no doubt, running straight off my alpine head unit at first, they were loud and clear up to volume 25 or so and then became distorted, and people thought that i had a sub from the outside of the car the bass was so impressive. But the i got an alpine MRP f250 amp to power the babies, and theyre crystal clear all they way to the highest volume, no distortion. But i did loose all my bass by getting an amp...time for a sub.
These speakers are awsome. bought four for my jeep grand cherokee and they sound great. not the best on low end but still can manage alot of low beats for being speakers.... best sound with rock type music, if you want to play good rap you will need a subwoofer... overall very happy with the quality and price!
