  • I have 2 of these subs in my 88 Mazda B2200, I am pushing them with a Kenwood KAC729S, I am running 2 channel at 2 ohms. These subs are awsome! My brother has 2 of these in an 85 S-10 with a Crossfire amp running 2 channel at 2 ohms and his hits alot harder than mine. I think they can handle more power. I will be upgrading my amp to HiFonics soon!

  • I bought four and just hooked up one to see what it sounded like before I built my box. Ran it with a PG tantrum 1200.1 with about 1600 watts rms @ 4 ohm and the gain at about 1/8-1/4. It was in a small sealed truck box in my 91 Silverado with the bass on both the amp and deck near zero. Let me say for $35 these things slam. Need to build my box quick!

  • Bought one of these subs. Hits decent for the money but is not the most durable sub. If you plan on going over the rated RMS wattage you will eventually blow this sub. It is very finicky and will whine at you when turned up at a decent level. Other than that it’s ok for a beginner sub.

  • bought 3 of these for the tempo, hooked them up to a phoenix gold 1200 mono amp. sound great. loud bass tickle the ear.. u can tell when u go up to loud cuz they start to distort...but for the price you cant go wrong even if you blow them showing off.

    10/20/2009

  • I just made a custom box and put two of these subs in my extended cab s10 and the next morning I played them and my neighbor came outside and told me to turn them down because he could not hear the news. For the money you can not pass up this deal. I have dealt with a lot of stereo systems before and for as cheap as these subs are they are well worth the money. Right now I only have a 200 watt rockford fosgate amp hooked up to them because I got it for free and wanted to see if the subs were any good. Very good beginner subs. If you are looking for more I would highly recommend the Brutus Hifonics B12SQD4 and bridge them down to one ohm they hit very hard, But I would recommend this subs to someone on a tight budget.

  • i bought 2 of these to replace my subs when i blew 1, and i put these in a ported box and got them on a rockford 1000w amp and i swear they pound serious very little distortion when at high volume but im talking about rediculous high volume, so if u just need a quick replacement or are a beginner or entry level get these they are worth it in the right box

  • I bought 3 of these. Put them in a 6 cubic foot sealed custom box. Infinity 1600 watt Monoblock wired in a series down to 2.7 ohms. And It slams I am getting roof flex and door flex like mad and havent tuned the amp to its full potential yet so it will get louder. The subs are great slam harder than anybody in my area at the time so I would say A+++. You can see them on youtube. U will not be disappointed. http://wwwtube/watch?v=WumrdALZ7pA

  • I had two of these Hifonics in my 1999 Merury Cougar in a sealed box, hooked up to a 1000 watt amp, they hit pretty hard, I would say for the money they are great subs. They are super lightweight too which is always a plus.

  • this is a great deal!! this is the best sounding speaker for the price i have ever bought, and i have bought a lot. i was running jl wo10 and sound quality was great but the low power handling led to clipped voice coils. i bought this as a cheap replacement just for right now, i dont think im going to need to upgrade. im running it in the same 1.25 cft ported box the wo's use witch is a little small. but i preffer this as it adds more punch. bridged at 2 ohm. with a one farid capasitor. running on a planet audio 2 ohm stable amp at around 300 rms. i am super impressed, i love jl audio but i also love my money. im going to buy a couple more to put in the closet, cuz my freands are going to want some too. but im gunna charg them $75!! ha ha!

  • i have 2 of these HFI12D4 monsters hooked up to a "planet audio 1000.2" bridged @4ohm (700rms)...so 350rms to each, in my grand cherokee...unbelivable.. I thought id blow them but they handle it perfect.... Ive had some top name brands and these are awsome for $30 subs.... I was on a budget and wanted to replace my JLw3's i had...SO I READ THESE REVIEWS AND TOOK MY CHANCE....SO GLAD I DID...the only 12's ive heard sound as good as these were my JL's ,and orion XTR, ....and they all cost me over $125 a peice at the time.... I call them monsters because the bass is crazy loud..shook my fog lamps loose (so they pointed down)on my front bumper and makes my wiper bounce off my rear window with just 2 of them .. cant go wrong with these... Im about to upgrade to 4 of them and a "planet audio ac2000.2"...(700rms X 2)....2 more subs and amp will cost me $180....so for $300 i got one hell of a system that will blow away most $2000 systems...lovin it.....but since im not 17 anymore... I dont need 4-12's, 2-15's, and 2-10's to be cool anymore......but you be heard from half a mile away, set off car alarms, and.. WILL GET A NOISE POLUTION TICKET WITH THESE SUBS.....ha ha....PLAY AT YOUR OWN RISK

  • not too bad for 50 bucks a pop. it only has holes in the terminal for 16 ga. wire that kinda sucks. running 2 off a memphis pr1.500 wired to 1 ohm and they do work, not too good on the lows. i got these to replace the 2008 boss audio diablo 12s i had and they hit way harder than these do. not too bad tho

  • i had written a previous revew for this speaker, but now i realize it's not as good as i had previously thought. still a great starter speaker. and it hits hard right out of the box, but it wont last, if pushed to it's rms watt on a reguler basis, expect to clip the voice coils in a couple months, i drive a tuner car and dont want 400 lbs of stereo in the trunk, so i generaly buy one sub and push it at it's limit, this sub only handled about 350 clean watts for a couple months. now thair trash. but if your not worried about weight two in a big box @ 400-500 watts rms would make for a clean reliable system at a great price.

  • Well i will start off for the sound these things beat good, but i will say at certian hertz the plastic back will rattle but at low hertz it doesn't. I put 300-325 into it for about 45 at loud volume (the only way i listen) and it smoked don't really know if i got a bad speaker or just too much power. But we will see im sending it back and will write another review when i get mine back. Oh and the terminal holes are kinda small for sub gauge wire... Just FYI

  • I replaced my Soundstream sub with this Hifonics model and ran it at 8 ohms with 240rms on Tap. The box is 1.8 cu ft tuned to 40hz, a bit bigger then the recommended 1.6 cu ft but the tuning port is same. The subwoofer seems to be very good performing sub, but I have noticed at certain frequencies the plastic covering seems to rattle and the sound was eminating from the port. This is usually at high volumes and with a lot of cone movement. Will see if I can take the plastic casing out from the back. The sub has good excursion limit and the only drawback is the rattling. For an entry level sub, the manufacturers have spent money on its mechanical factors and it matters the most. Just follow the manufacturers recommendation with box requirements and I am happy with the result. A great buy for an entry level sub that performs very well. Another downside is the effecieny of 87db /1mtr, you will need a good amp to drive it. Highly recommended as an entry level subwoofer!!!
