I replaced my Soundstream sub with this Hifonics model and ran it at 8 ohms with 240rms on Tap. The box is 1.8 cu ft tuned to 40hz, a bit bigger then the recommended 1.6 cu ft but the tuning port is same.
The subwoofer seems to be very good performing sub, but I have noticed at certain frequencies the plastic covering seems to rattle and the sound was eminating from the port. This is usually at high volumes and with a lot of cone movement. Will see if I can take the plastic casing out from the back. The sub has good excursion limit and the only drawback is the rattling. For an entry level sub, the manufacturers have spent money on its mechanical factors and it matters the most. Just follow the manufacturers recommendation with box requirements and I am happy with the result. A great buy for an entry level sub that performs very well. Another downside is the effecieny of 87db /1mtr, you will need a good amp to drive it. Highly recommended as an entry level subwoofer!!!
Well i will start off for the sound these things beat good, but i will say at certian hertz the plastic back will rattle but at low hertz it doesn't. I put 300-325 into it for about 45 at loud volume (the only way i listen) and it smoked don't really know if i got a bad speaker or just too much power. But we will see im sending it back and will write another review when i get mine back. Oh and the terminal holes are kinda small for sub gauge wire... Just FYI
