The KFCX1710 2-way co-axials are Kenwood's best. They use Carbon Hybrid Polypropylene cone that is rigid yet lightweight for tight bass response, butyl rubber surround for durability, the 1 Teflon soft dome tweeter for smooth highs and a cast aluminum basket. The Zobel crossover network incorporates a tweeter protection device and a 3-point Tweeter attenuation dial at 0 dB, -2 dB and -4 dB. The KFCX1710's are rated at 2 ohms, which means they are lower impedance [2-ohm vs. the standard 4-ohm] which maximizes your power output from a full range amplifier. The 2-ohm design gives you more headroom, more dynamics and yes, they will play louder. Kenwood strongly recommend you use these with an external amplifier, which will allow you to get the maximum performance from the KFCX1710's!
