Product Reviews For Pioneer Premier TS-W5102SPL

  • This is the most strongly bumping subwoofer I have ever heard! Let me tell you something: There are traffic lights near the Car audio-service, where I mounted the woofer. So at last when we tested the TS-W5102SPL, the cars at the crossing just did not leave when the lights were green - everybody was listening and looking at the SUB! The feeling of this brute music power is unique!

  • I have two of these subs in my 99 tahoe and they are insane!!! i was trying to sell them due to the amount of money it was going to cost me to have them set up rite, i am glad i didnt! i had two bd2001 one for each sub but i needed three alt's and three batteries, so i settled for one amp to both 12's and its loud enough i cant imagine what it would have sounded like with both amps. definatley a pro-sub and not for the lightweights.

  • This sub is OVERRATED!!!! The voice coils will overheat and the sub will blow. It pounds really hard but 4 other people I have ran into have had the same problem. I was only give it half the power of my hifonics brutus 2600

  • the reason the retard below me managed to blow this badass sub is because the moron wasnt even sending rms wattage to it. maybe u should learn how to wipe your ass before you install yourself another stereo buddy..

  • If you dont give a sub at least 75% of its rms power, it will blow. Its called clipping a voice coil. If you can only afford an amp that puts out around 1300 rms, then buy a sub that needs 1300 rms, not a sub like this. Common sense guys.

  • just for everyones information, the hifonics brutus 2600 puts out 2600 rms...plently of power for the sub...pioneer subs are just horrible try a solo-x instead of this garbage...

  • to joe - yes he was underpowering the sub and by a great deal. being a dual 4 ohm sub it would be at a 2 ohm load on the brutus 2600 which means 1300 watts rms. UNDERPOWERING BLOWS SUBS! this sub is actually an amazing sub and is currently the type of sub used by the world record holder. one of these subs will shake your eye balls lose. just give it the right power and it will perform nicely

  • the guy who said this sub is garbage knows nothing about subwoofers since this sub is the current world record holder

  • some of you guys need to understand general electronics. take it from somebody who has been doing this for 15 years and is ase certified in a6 electrical. if you have a dual 4 ohm and wire it in series you have an 8 ohm load. if you run the 2600 at 1 ohm its going to hit at 4 ohms at stereo, bridged i believe it will run 2 ohms.but if its dual 2 ohm it will run 1 ohm briged. so take your dual voice coils and wire them in parralell, because if its in series its more ohms and current flow follows the path of most resistance. wich causes heat wich leads to blown voice coils... etc.. so yes wired right and the right set up this sub will be amazing.

Clipping is when the top and the bottom of a sine wave is "clipped" off, making the peaks flat. It almost turns the sine wave into a square wave. According to your logic, unless your always powering a sub with 75% of it's rated power handling, it will blow. You can never even turn it down, it would blow the sub. Underpowering a sub will not blow it, however sending a clipped signal into a sub will. As long as the system is configured to NOT send a clipped signal, ie, the outputs on the amp are fed into an oscilloscope so you can view the sine wave and the output on the head unit or preamp is turned up most of the way, and the gain on the amp is turned down until the sine wave on the oscillscope stays a sine wave, and no parts of it are clipped.

  • I have this sub running on 3000w rms in a sealed box custom for a 09 audi S. Hell yeh I love it. Turning heads every where in big D, boppers, gold diggers, haters mad. A dream come, ready to do it all over again.

  • Excellent sub with a strong motor and a feature set that rivals DD's and RE XXX's. The excursion isn't as extreme, but for strong daily drivers, I'd prefer the elegant build quality and engineering of the Pioneer's any day. As James said, low power DOES NOT blow subs, heat kills subs. As long as a sub is fed 10-20% of its RMS power and is in the proper box, the cone is moving enough air to cool properly. When the signal is clipped at the amplifier (due to poor gain setting), the square wave acts like DC current, holding the cone still (momentarily) and drastically reducing cooling efficiency. Again, heat kills subs. Poor box design can also unload the woofer, with too low of impedance for the cone movement. Too much electricity and not enough cooling will melt the coil. Heat. The cone design (on the inside) of this sub is excellent at heat dissipation, so you'd have to be deaf not to notice the clipping before it blows, at 2000w RMS. Joe, Ian, Bud, and Darius are ignorant and shouldn't be listened to. Set up your amps right, and run the calculations and stop spreading lies. This is an excellent sub, as are most of Pioneer's high end.

  • The best sub i have ever owned. The base is the clearest i have ever had. I am only pushing it with a 750w rms kicker amp, and it sounds amazing. Soon to buy the new MTX amp to realy push it. If you dont have this sub, you dont know what true pure sound is, Pioneer rocks!!!

  • I bought this sub so me and my friends could listin to the sone bass from a pit bull song up in my single cab 1982 Toyota and be fore I put the sub in we could fit a couple of guys but now we can only fit 10 guys in it I'm using a rft4000.1 with a one farad cap Ive also mounted my amp behind my radiator because it already cought my interior on fire so it should stay cold behind my radiator but for some reason my engine is over heating.

  • I had this ran off a sundown saz3500 and sounded good. But way too over priced and not anywhere near worth it. I dropped this to run my dc lvl 5 15 off the saz3500. My lvl 5 makes this look what pioneer is, garbage.

  • Just want to say wow heard 4 of these at a db comp really amazing sub.. just wanna say to those people who say underpowering a sub will blow it u need to take a day an read some more on ur audio.. no way will u blow a sub by underpowering a sub with clean power.. u can blow it by throwing ur sony explod amp clipping the hell out of it.. that would be the only damn way ud blow a sub.. u can use 750.1 power anything as long as ur gain is set right no distortion or clipping u will be fine

  • First off chris from boston incorrect. Undrpowering dont blow woofers.... Distortion does. Thats why its better to have the right amount of RMS to power them because everybody tries to squeeze as much as they can out of there amp when it has a low rms rating.
