The APBX 8 R loaded enclosure was developed with reflex loading, with tuning designed to concentrate SPL in the lowest frequency range. The aim was to exploit the natural boost in output found in most cars below 60 Hz known as “cabin gain”. The 8-inch single 4 Ω voice-coil subwoofer has a powerful motor that maximizes efficiency in combination with the AP8.9 bit amplifier. The low-resonant frequency of the subwoofer, matched to the reflex enclosure keeps excursion low within the entire audio spectrum, allowing also the use with a pair of AP4.9 bit / AP4 D bridged channels, capable of delivering 260 W rms.
The APS 8 D subwoofer system is housed in an ultra-low profile, measuring just 5.16 inches (131 mm), sealed box for optimal performance. The innovative 2S² (2 Sides/2 Sounds) design offers flexibility, allowing users to choose between Down-Firing for enhanced low-frequency extension or Up-Firing for added punch and definition. The enclosure features leveling feet with velcro inserts for a secure grip on carpet, and rounded corners aid easy trunk positioning while minimizing enclosure resonance. The SSP (Sub Smart Plug) provides versatile impedance configuration with traditional push contacts and a Plug-&-Play terminal block for quick release. The 8-inch water-repellent pressed paper cone, designed using FEM simulation and Klippel Scan Vibrometer optimization, ensures a long linear excursion capability of 9 mm. The robust driver motor assembly, optimized with Finite Element Modeling, guarantees precise control even under high excursion conditions. Compatible with AP1 D mono or AP4.9 bit/AP4 D (2 CH bridged) amplifiers, the system leverages the built-in DSP's bass boost feature and integrated parametric equalizer. Complete protection is offered by the sturdy metal grid included with the subwoofer driver.
