- • Why does my 1005E power up but fail to recognize the battery?
If none of the 12V, 14V, or 16V indicators illuminate, first check the battery connection and measure its voltage. The charger may not recognize a battery below approximately 4V.
- • Why isn't the 1005E reaching the charging amperage I selected?
The displayed current is not always the selected maximum. The charger can reduce current as it enters the absorption stage, while low AC input or a battery that is resisting the charge can also prevent the expected output.
- • Why does the Error light come on before my battery is fully charged?
The Error indicator is designed to activate when the battery cannot reach a complete charge within the charger's 10-hour charging window at the selected rate. Check the battery condition and charging-rate setting before assuming the charger is defective.
- • What should I do if my 1005E blows its fuse after connecting the battery?
First switch the charger off and verify that the positive and negative connections were not reversed. A real customer reported that accidentally connecting the cables backward caused the 10A fuse to blow, which is consistent with the charger's protection design.
- • Why does the charging current drop even though the battery isn't completely new?
The 1005E intentionally reduces current as the battery approaches full charge during absorption. A falling amperage reading therefore does not automatically indicate a charging failure.
- • Can running fans, pumps, or other accessories interfere with charging?
Yes. Extra electrical loads consume part of the charger's available current and can make charging take longer. They can also interfere with the charger's ability to determine when the battery has actually reached full charge.
- • Why does my 1005E restart its charging cycle after it reaches float?
The charger can automatically begin another charging sequence when the electrical demand rises above its preset threshold. This can happen when additional loads are connected to the battery.
- • Why does my 1005E perform differently when connected to a generator?
The charger's output depends on its AC input, so unstable or incorrect generator voltage can affect charging performance. XS Power recommends using a generator with automatic voltage regulation when powering the charger.
- • Can I use the 1005E on several batteries at once?
It can charge a battery bank when the batteries are appropriately matched, but the total capacity and state of discharge matter because the charger expects the bank to reach full charge within its charging period. XS Power notes that batteries in the bank should be the same type and size.
- • Why does my 1005E show little or no power even though the outlet works?
Check the 10A fuse, AC cord, and incoming power before diagnosing an internal failure. The manufacturer's troubleshooting section specifically lists these items when the power indicator does not illuminate.
