Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- • Why does my S680 lose its charge when the vehicle sits?
Some owners have reported the battery not holding a charge after periods of use. One listed review specifically describes the S680 as failing to retain charge, so checking for vehicle parasitic drain and battery condition is important.
- • Can the S680 handle a powerful car audio system?
Yes, the S680 is designed to support vehicle electronics and aftermarket equipment, with up to 1,000 amps of maximum output. However, its 20Ah capacity means it is better suited to appropriately sized electrical demands rather than extremely large systems.
- • Is the S680 strong enough to start a performance engine?
Owners have reported successful starts on performance and race engines. One user specifically said it started a 370ci turbo engine without difficulty.
- • Why is the S680 much smaller than a normal car battery?
The S680 is built as a compact AGM racing battery, measuring roughly 7.13 × 3.03 × 6.57 inches and weighing around 14 pounds depending on listing specifications. Its lightweight design makes it attractive for racing and space-limited installations.
- • Will the S680 work as my vehicle's main battery?
It can, and some owners have successfully used it as a primary battery. One customer reported using it as the main battery in a 2015 Honda Civic with reliable starting performance.
- • What should I check if my S680 keeps going dead?
Start with the charging system, battery connections, vehicle parasitic draw, and charging voltage. A healthy battery can still discharge quickly if the vehicle or accessories are continuously pulling power.
- • Can I use the S680 for a race car that sits between events?
Yes, but storage matters. An owner reported good results in a race vehicle while disconnecting the battery between uses. This is especially useful when the vehicle has electronics that continue drawing power while parked.
- • Is the S680 really vibration resistant?
Its sealed AGM construction is intended for demanding automotive and racing environments, including resistance to vibration and spills. That makes it particularly useful where a conventional flooded battery may be less suitable.
- • Why might my new S680 not perform as expected?
Battery condition and seller source can matter. A customer review reported concerns about warranty coverage after purchasing through an unauthorized seller and questioned the condition of the battery. Buying through an authorized source can help avoid uncertainty over warranty support.
- • Is the S680 a good choice if I want maximum power with minimum weight?
For buyers prioritizing low weight and compact size, the S680 is compelling: it offers 1,000A maximum output, 326A CCA, and a lightweight AGM design. Its relatively small reserve capacity should still be considered when matching it to the vehicle and electrical load.
