Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- • Why don't these fit my existing 6.5-inch speaker opening?
A 6.5-inch speaker can still have different mounting dimensions. The required cutout is about 5.36 inches, with approximately 2.49 inches of mounting depth, so measure the opening before installation.
- • Can I install them in a wakeboard tower or speaker pod?
Yes, if the pod accommodates the mounting dimensions and depth. Verify the cutout, mounting pattern, and available clearance before drilling or modifying the installation.
- • Can I use these on a Harley or other powersports vehicle?
They can be used in some powersports applications, but vehicle-specific fitment is not guaranteed. Measure the mounting area and available clearance carefully before installation.
- • Do the LED wires need to be connected for the speakers to work?
No. The speakers will play normally without the lighting connected. The separate LED wiring only needs to be connected if you want to use the built-in Color Optix illumination.
- • Why aren't the Color Optix lights turning on?
Check the LED power harness, connectors, ground, and 9–16V supply. Also inspect the fuse and wiring for loose connections before assuming there is a lighting failure.
- • Why does the bass sound weak after installation?
Incorrect polarity, poor mounting, insufficient amplifier power, or an open-air installation can reduce perceived bass. Check polarity and mounting first, then verify the amplifier is supplying clean power.
- • Why do they distort when I turn the volume up?
Clipping, excessive gain, or aggressive bass boost can cause distortion. The speakers are rated for 150 watts RMS at 4 ohms, so use an appropriately matched amplifier and clean signal.
- • Why is one speaker quieter than the other?
Check the speaker polarity, terminals, amplifier channels, and source balance. Swapping the left and right outputs can help determine whether the problem follows the speaker or remains with the wiring.
- • Why do the speakers rattle after installation?
Loose mounting hardware or an uneven mounting surface can cause vibration. Secure the speaker evenly and avoid overtightening, which can potentially distort the speaker frame.
