The I.L.M. (Interchangeable Locking Mechanism) allows this speaker to be used as either a coaxial or component system, giving you flexibility for different installation setups. It is also 3-way system expansion ready—simply add the P3V2-25 midrange speaker to upgrade to a full 3-way component configuration. Updated mounting flanges improve compatibility with newer vehicle models for easier, factory-style installation, while the 3/4” (19 mm) Tetolon® inverted dome tweeter delivers clear, reliable high-frequency performance even under demanding listening conditions.
The Santoprene™ half-roll surround helps reduce distortion while improving fatigue resistance for smooth, accurate audio performance. A 20–40% mica-reinforced polypropylene curvilinear cone provides increased rigidity and better sound quality for clearer, more natural music reproduction. The chemically bonded co-molded surround and cone body enhance strength and durability for long-term reliability. For added convenience, the surface and flush tweeter cups use copper spring contacts, allowing easy front-side tweeter servicing.
Co-molded basket terminals provide a secure and stable electrical connection for dependable long-term operation. The threaded tweeter cup supports clean flush mounting in 3/8" panels using a 1.5" hole-saw cutout for simple installation. When the tweeter is placed in a separate cup, the included woofer phase plug helps improve driver mechanics and sound performance. The vented Kapton® voice coil former enhances heat dissipation, supporting stable operation during extended listening sessions.
The overhung voice coil design maintains consistent magnetic control for cleaner, more accurate audio reproduction with reduced distortion. A high-strength Y35 ferrite magnet structure—5 mm larger than the previous generation—provides stronger motor performance for better output control.
