they r the closest things to jl audio w7's for a great price.
Amazing subwoofer, i have two 12's in a 01 jetta, they are hooked up to a JL 500, WOW, made out of carbon fiber, its an extremely durable sub, if you live in the north, you can play it in the winter and your cone will not crack. absolutly loud subs, of course 500 watts is piss... these subs have a mind blowing 3,000 watt max... i have 500 watts and my ears hurt and i get headaches, 3,000 watts would be borderline out of control. if you can find this sub for under 300, pull it, its the best deal of your life
these sound great and loud. i have mine hooked up to jl 500/1 and it pounds. i never have it turned up all the way because my ears can't take it even though i still want to get a 1000 watt amp for it. maybe an orion or zapco. It is lounder and sounds deeper than jl w6v2. i heard them side by side. also very good sq sub. would recommend to anyone who wants a great sub but doens't want to empty their wallet...

this is one of the best subs on the market w7 are great but cant do some of the stuff this can do. recemend 1000watts to each sub or you will waste your money
I have one type x in a sealed custom box and a mrd-m1005 amp and my experience with the x is not so good. my sub blew after having it for a month. if you are looking for a sub with very high sound quality, but not a lot of bass then this would be a good buy. if you are looking for a sub that makes your ears bleed then this is not for you. this sub was made for sound quality, not spl. dont be fooled. a thousands watts to this sub is like 700 watts to a couple of rockford fosgate p3's. I've heard two p3's in a ported box running on a rockford fosgate t5002 and it hit harder than my x did and it sounded just as good at high volumes. looking back i wish i would have gone with something different than the type x.
i have 2 12inch type x and they slam. they are in a 97 ford explorer. its in a 7 cubic feet custom ported box and hits 171 on the dashboard ani only have watt amps hooked up to each 2 alpine600/1 (((unreal)))
This sub does not compare to the w7. The w7 is a far better sub. If you want somethong that compares to a w7 it would be the new Boston G5, But even better the G5 needs less air space and is less power hungry with the compareable spl and sq. If you want a quality sub nut up and pay for it. You get what you pay for.
this is one of the loudest subs i have ever heard it is more than enough but for the ones that want the little extra bass it has it.
This is the best subwoofer ever i have 4 of these hooked up on there own 3000 watt amps and i am very pleased with my bass and sound quality if you want to blow people out go with typeX
I have an X hooked up to a Pyle 1600x2 amp and it hits great...this is the best set-up around my town
I love it i put one of these connected to a 3000w boss ripper (not recommended the boss sucks) but it still kicks ass; rattles my 68' mercedes like crazy! hope to soon buy a 1000w JL amplifier for this beasT
For everyone who said this is one of the loudest subs they have ever heard they havent heard many subs before. The type X is an SQ (sound quality) sub and is designed to be put in a sealed box. i had two of them with 2 jl 1000/1s and they had good sq and sounded very clean. They are not a W7 but the SQ is still very high on my list. For the price it is a good deal but there are many subs out there that beat the type-x in SQ and SPL(sound pressure level). A few other SQ subs to look at are the JL W7, Treo SSi, Eclipse Ti, and Image Dynamics IDmax.
No matter what people say, this sub hits hard. Got 1 12" Type X with a MRD-M1005 hooked up with it and it bangs. Hits way better than my buds 2 10" G5's. Worth it, more BANG for your buck.
I have two of these in my truck, they hit pretty good. Last fall I took it to a db drag and it was coming in at 50.0db on the dash. The only problem I have with them right now is the amplifier I am using (WCC D5000) is a bit excessive, from what I am seeing you would not want to use more than a 3,000W amp on a pair of these bad boys.
I HAVE ONE 12" TYPE X HOOKED UP TO ALPINE'S MRD-M1001 AMP RUNNING AT 2OHMS AND I NOW BEAT EVRYONE IN THE LOCAL CRUISE THE NEXT GUY FROM ME HAS 2x12" KICKERS RUNNING FROM A 2 CHANNEL KICKER AMP AT ABOUT 1200w TOTAL. THESE RULE!
this sub is an amazing deal for the money... the sound quality is amazing... but there are better subs i used to have two of these in my car with a jl 500/1 to each i changed to w6's in the same size the are in a custom sealed box which is fiberglassed on the inside to improve sound quality... they are not much louder but the w6 provides the best sound... tried two w7 10's wow but just too much bass for my taste but i love my w6's but again this sub is a great bargin and if the wallet is tight i would recomend but if you love music jl is the way to go
I have always used Alpine products, and while I have used and heard many others, for the money you will be hard pressed to find a sub even near what this will do. It sounds great at any volume, and is very loud. I used to have 3 sealed type-Rs getting over 1200w rms, and one type-x (vented) is louder, and has great(better) SQ. You may find a louder sub, in the $600+ range, but this is just as good in SQ as any of those I have heard(w7, re xxx, adire brahma). Great sub, would pay more for it, and I am buying a 2nd to go with my Brutus amp.
i just got two of these and they hit good!!! with great sond quality. alpine is the best!
This is by far the best sub out. I used to have a jl w7 12" and i actually switched to this. It is a lot cleaner of a sound and it is so much cheaper. I have this in a ported prefab box with a 3002 watt rockford power amp in a lexus es 300 and i am beatin. I have been in a lot of bass off comps. and ive beatin two 15"s a couple times and two 12"s many times and ive yet to lose. The thing that blows everyones mind is that i only have one twelve. You just have to hear it for yourself.
this sub is amazing i have one in a custom vented box with a lanzar 4000 watt amp going to it and it makes my head hurt this sub really makes all types of music sound a whole lot better.
The sub is my favorite part of my system. I have 3002 watt rockford amp and this sub pounds like krazy. I got it installed in a ported box. My convertible GT Mustang vibrates from the doors all the way to rear fender. I've gotten stop by the police once b4. I turn heads b4 I enters the block. I get krazy looks from peeps. I remember one time this guy had a Chevy Camaro and he had 2-12s. I'm not go lie, he was bassing the block down. Until we meet at school one day. Once I finished winning the competition this guy thought I had 3-12s or 2-15s. He still ask what I have in my trunk instead of asking what's under my hood.
I have two of these subs hooked up to 1 alpine pdx 1000.1 monoblocks each. I hit 149 db in an 87 mustang gt convertible. Yeh they pound that hard. As long as you have evrything hooked up right. I would at least reccomend putting at least 500 watts RMS to this sub and you everything in your car will shake even if you have dynamat and other sound deadening merchandise.. They pound.Amazing sound quality and enough bass to literally make yours ears bleed.
I have one of these hooked up to a hifonics 1500 watt rms mono amp in a 98 toyota tacoma in a ported box and this thing feels like its gonna bust out my windows. i had most of my truck dynamatted but had a toolbox with nothing in it in the bed of mytruck and i had to take that out so it wouldnt rattle anymore. i was gonna put another one in but i figure i like my hearing better
i just bought 2 type x alpines for my 1998 320 benz amd im debating on which amps i should go with perhaps 2 1200 watt brutus amps by hifonics [aka maxxsonics} i heard them in a freinds car with a 1000.1 jl audio and i was extremly impressed.way to go alpine
ok i recently owned 2 jl 13.w7 i had them in a slot ported box sounded great. i hit 148db. I just wanted more bass and upgrade i tried a single alpine type x woofer and hit a 153 db i was very suprized on the performance and bass from a single 12inch sub. I have been a jl enthiustis for 6 years and im sorry to say alpines type x out perform jl13w7 in many ways and works very well in small enclosures.
I bought one of these for a honda Pilot. It is definatly a well built sub. I think it would be hard to destroy it. I'm gonna need a couple 10" subs to get tighter bass though since this wont do it. I like JL audio a lot although the foam surround isnt long lasting like the alpines rubber. JL does sound better for sure. You get what you pay for and they are twice the money. For indestructable quality built subs I went for this one. Recommend you give it lots of power though. Its a power hungry sub. got it hooked to a Alpine Mrd 1005 mono. Still eats it up. Bet this would sound great with a couple 10's by its side to get the punchy bass.
Ok this sub is one of a kind it has amazing sound quality and it makes my friends feel sick when they ride with me. I have mmine powered by a hifonics 2006d amp and it is simply amazing these things can handle it and sound great.
Just installed these in a 95 firebird with a box from subthump. I have them hooked up to a 2 channel MA Audio amp that i only have turned up a third the way and they sound awsome. Though if you are looking for clearity then these really aren't the subs for you but if you want crazy loud base then i reccomend them fully.
I have 1 12 inch type x hooked up to a lanzar amp and it slams, it out pounds any other system at my school. It was very easy to install and i would recomend this sub to anyone.
i just finished my install in my 2000 honda civic i droped in a second 12 inch type x driver in a custom tuned ported g-force enclosure and it sounds so great better than my old 13.w7s. first of all they are way more accurate of a sub and candrop way lower and remain accurate. i think a lot of people overlook alpines subs and i was one of them for years and i am more happy with the alpine subs and they cost half the amount of a jlw7. if your looking for a high output box for your alpine subs visit gforceperformanceaudio i guarantee you will not be dissapionted. do it big 157.db
Ok I just got 2 of these things for my '00 Monte Carlo and right off tha back i gotta say these mutha*****s are worth every dollar you drop into them!!!! i mean ive gotten pulled over, won beat offs, turned heads, set off car alarms... I mean these things KNOCK! they hold so much bass that you have to feed them the most you can give them, i got a hifonics brutus running to mine and i think im fina go def sometimes when i crank it up HALF the way. so if youre interested, i personally say DO IT!!!
I just got 2 of these bad boys in my cadillac catera about a month ago with 2 hifonics brutus amps putting 900 watts into each sub and all i can say is wow, right when i was done setting it up i played em and it set off my buddy's alarm on his yukon which was parked next to my car. these things slam soooo hard its rediculous but they still have such good sound quality. i can easily be heard from 3 blocks away. the only problem is getting so many sound violations :-(
i have 2 of these in an obcon snake ported box and it is by far the best system i've ever heard. i have them running off 2 kenwood excelon mono amps and i wont ever by anything else but type x's
I have one of these x type subs hooked up to an alpine mono V12 amplifier,and i have to say just having one subwoofer turns heads in the parking lot. This is simply the best subwoofer, its just soo accurate, and there is no distortion in the bass.
well, ive owned lots of stereos, but i must say when i hooked up the new digital class d 1.600 watt amp to one 12" typeX, holy, holy, i dont know what else to say really, the fact that it actually can handle a bit more then that amp, i was gonna go with the 1000 watt, but 600 is nuts, my gains and settings on the amp, are between half way and 3/4 turned up, so it can pump more juice into that sub, but AWESOME, i wont get any other sub
