  • This sub is pretty nice! It can take a beating. The same day i got it i gave it 2000 watts Rms. now of course i fried it 1ohm impedence and am now running it at 4ohms. but it still hits hard, turns heads, and sets off car alarms while only getting 600watts rms. im beatin out 2 12" kickers, infinity, and otha shit. but b4 u buy this, look at the amp u got and see if 2 12" type R's wuld better suit u. ckuz that set up wuld beat this 1 15" with the right amount of power.

  • This sub is awesome!!! I am running it through a 1600 watt hifonics amp at 1000rms It makes my friends 2 12" audiobauns look weak. This sub will make ur ears ring at low frequency's! With the right hook-up you will love this sub!

  • This thing freakin rocks my socks! I have this sub in a 3sqft. box tuned to 30Hz and I'm giving it 1000 watts at 2 ohms. Hold on! It will make your ears ring very easily. This sub is really power hungry. It dims the lights in a Deisel truck with two batterys. After I regrounded my alternator and both batterys and put in a cap the problem is solved. This 40lb. sub is the best bang for your buck!! My order was to my door for free in fine business days and I'm in Houston. Beat that!!

  • This is a great value! I have been in to car audio for 15 years and have own many scores of different high dollar subs looking for the best sound quality and low frequency performance. I love these subs and you will to. The kids who only care about the most SPL should buy JL13w7's or some other 50 pound beasts that sounds like crap, don't get me wrong these sub get load and can shake your whole car if thats your thing. I drive them at a 4ohm load with 2 Alpine PDX-1.1000 the more power you have on hand will give you better sound quality even if your listening at lower volumes. The 2.8cf ported boxs I built myself to fit nicely in to the trunk of my Lexus ls430. The subs fire to the rear with the ports entering the car by way of the rear deck. The bass is as cleans as I have heard from 15's. the only other subs I would buy are Clif Designs and Jlw6 can sound great but box design is much more important then for the alpines. Focal 3 ways are the VERY BEST fronts by the way.

  • Okay, so unlike all the other 16 year old kids below me who say they have been in car audio for 15 some years and talk like the haven't gotten out of high school yet about this sub. I'm going to give it a fair review. Sub is by far no SQ champ. If SQ is your thing, defiantly stay away from the R. You could try a type X, their SQ is very pleasing. As far as SPL goes, I tested this sub in 2 different Boxes, a 3.8 ft^3 @ 35 Hz and a 3.6 ft^3 @ 30 Hz. For daily driving the 30Hz tuning made the sub very much enjoyable, and it got low and rang the ears. the 3.8 @ 35 Hz box did get noticeably louder, but I like low tuning, especially on subs that can get low. As a hip/hop daily listener, this single 15" in the box mentioned above would be more then enough to satisfy anybody. It metered in 144.7 dB SPL @ 33 hz in the 3.6 box, and 145.6 dB SPL @ 37 hz in the 3.8 box. Fairly impressive. The power handling is lightly skewed, as this sub can take 1500 RMS daily, assuming you are the average nimb-wit, turning the gain knob all the way up and bass boost maxed out. I'd recommend this product for daily hip/hop listeners who want a cheap and loud single 15. Just don't forget to get a custom box built for your sub, as the box enhances the sub, not the other way around. -Jensen G

  • I drive a 1998 KIA Sportage. I have a Sony Xplod amp at 500 watts x1 RMS at 4 ohms. Was pounding with a Memphis Power Reference 15 single 4 ohm voice coil, that was pretty loud. But when I installed my new SWR-1522D I could not believe the difference. This sub is louder and cleaner than any I have ever owned or even heard before. For the money you cannot go wrong. Thank you Alpine!!!!!!

  • This thing is the mad note. I got 80 of these in my ford pinto wagon powered by an 80 channel 80,000 watt dual amp. This stuff is straight up kuztom. I blew my whole roof clean off. These things hit a lot harder than them old Vagmaster 3,000 12s and my Assblaster 9,000s.

  • Had a single one of these hooked up to a HiFonics 2000 watt amp @ 2 ohms and the bass was pretty good. Lasted me for around 2 and a half years and hit hard through all the time. Running it at 1300 RMS seemed to be out of its range and now the sub does not sound at all. Tried everything but sadly it is dead. Great sub while it lasted though.
