  • I've had my Kicker S12L7 subwoofer for about 3 months now and it pounds the heck out of my 2002 Toyota Celica GT. I can feel the air pushing out the vented subwoofer box and all the vibrations from the windows, doors, including my spoiler, which shook the heck out of it! The control for the sub is not up to max but, usually I put it to the second arrow which does pounds hard at around volume 21 on my Sony CDX-S2000 head unit (Just needs to crack the volume up for the deck). I have the Kicker ZX750.1 amplifier that has a total maximum watts of 945! It's the nicest amp and sub money can buy! Also, I have the Stinger SWKH4 4 gauge power wiring kit. I suggest a 4 gauge wiring kit because it's thicker and for better sound quality. Don't get an 8 gauge cause the wiring isn't good and it's too thin.

  • i have 2 of these hooked up to a 500/1 jl amp at first i wasnt that impressed with them but it seems like after they brook in they got louder. now these subs are the loudest i have ever heard. takes up the whole trunk in my neon. i replaced my w6 with 2 of these and i like these much much better. but i like LOUD music. i think the sound qulity on these are really good. I would definatly buy these again. i just need a kicker 1500.1 zx amp. then it will be complete.

  • I have 2 of these in my 2002 monte carlo hooked up with the 1250.1 digital kicker amp dropped to 1 ohm and they rattle the hell out of my car. before these i had 3 audiobahn aluminum series 12s and they were horrible, but i got the L7s and they out thump everybody in town except the solo x. cant afford that, but overall great subs.

  • I purchased this Sub because I was not happy with my MB Quart subwoofers I bought for SQ, their output was horrible. I am an employee at circuit city so I only had to pay $135 for this sub, and $175 for a zx750.1 amp. The new set up is in a 2.5 Cubic Inch Sealed enclosure. It is MUCH louder than the 1000RMS I had running to my MB's and SQ isnt noticably any worse, although I'm sure side by side you'd notice a difference. Just be prepared to break in for AT LEAST 20 HOURS before you turn up the gain, it sucks but if you dont it will blow 95% of the time in just a couple of days. Can't tell you how many of these subs get returned to my store, so be prepared to break in or use the warranty within the first week.

  • THE FACT IS MOST PEOPLE SENDING IN REVIEWS KNOW NOTHING HELPFUL ABOUT DESIGNING A GOOD OR BETTER SOUND WITH SUBS AND SUB ENCLOUSURES. EVERY PERSON WHO SAID A KICKER, MB QUART, OR AUDIOBAHN DIDN'T SOUND GOOD CAN'T KNOW ABOUT PAIRING A SUB WITH AN ENCLOUSURE. IF I WANT TO BE SIMPLY THE LOUDEST ADVERAGE DRIVER IN THE CITY, I CAN CHOOSE A SUB BY IT'S LOOKS WITH NO PROBLEM. HERE ARE A FEW EXAMPLES I HAD WITH ME BUILDING ENCLOUSURES AND INSTALLING SUBS. A FRIEND 2001 ALTIMA W/ A MEMPHIS 1000D POWERING 2 KICKER L7'S USING PERFECT FACTORY SPECS OF A PORTED BOX. HE ALWAYS LIKED THE PRESURISED SOUND OF 10'S SO HE ASK IF I KNEW WHAT 10'S TO USE W/ HIS SAME AMPTHAT WOULD SOUND BETTER AS FOR AS SOUND CONTROL AND LOUDNESS. I USED 3 ALUM AUDIOBAHN 10'S IN A PORTED ENCLOUSURE THAT AUDIOBAHN SAID WOULDN'T SOUND GOOD. ME, UNDERSTANDING THE TECHNICAL DEAL W SPEAKERS I MADE IT WORK. WAS IT LOUDER??? EASYLY!! BUT THINK ABOUT THIS. ONE FRIEND SAID I CAN'T COMPARE 2 12'S and 3 10'S. OK. WITH THE 12'S THERE WERE 550W GOING INTO A 700 OR 750W RMS SUB, BUT THE 10'S HAD 1000W RMS RATING WHILE USING ONLY 300W EACH. TRUST ME, YOU WANT TALK OR READ ABOUT MOST PROS WHO KNOW HOW TO MAKE MOST SUBS DO WHAT THEY WANT THEM TO DO IN THE REAR OF AN SUV, CAR, OR TRUCK. AND FOR GET ASKING THESE TECH PEOPLE BECAUSE THEIR ONLY SITTING AROUND BEING DEPRESSED EATING FAST FOODS. PEACE TO ALL AND DON'T BE ONE OF THE IGNORANT!

  • To Aj from Westcoast, First, I have to say that I don't agree with your choice to go with Audiobahn over Kicker. I had these subs and they were awesome. Then I went to a 12" Solo X... and that was BY FAR the loudest single setup I ever heard; and I competed in DB Drag and USAC. But I agree with you about the difference between SQ and pure output. While the SOLO X pounded the hell out of anything else I ever heard, it' SQ wasn't that great. However, the L-7's I had were the best possible combination of both worlds... and I once owned Audiobahn for a VERY short time, then got wise. These L-7's rock, and do a nice job of toning it down when asked to. And one more thing about the comparision between the 3 10's and 2 12's: There IS a difference and you really CANT compare them. Sure, maybe the 12's were getting more power than the 10's, but maybe they were less efficient. But the real factor is that 3 10's move more air than 2 12's; simple basic math when you calculate the surface area. And isn't that what bass is about? Moving air? But the outcome isn't always in favor of the 10's. I competed in Tallahassee, FL at DB Drag with 1 (yes "1") 12" Kicker SOLO X powered by a Kicker SX1250.1 (awesome as hell too) against a green Explorer with 3 Rockford 10's power by a single HE amp. Needless to say, I won with a score of 154.2 in a '92 Accord. So anyone thinking about buying Kicker, don't hesitate. In my opinion, there may be other subs out there slightly better at SQ, but I guarantee you that you wont find another sub that rocks like these guys do AND gives you VERY impressive SQ. Getting the mix is why Kicker is a winner to me.

  • This is a definite BEAST! I have 2 in a '98 Ford Explorer, and they're running off a 1600 watt Hifonics Brutus amp. They will definetly make you deaf within a month! I had to go out and buy 1" thick foam to put around my back glass so that I didn't blow it out. I recommend a HUGE box with these. If you can and don't mind not being able to use your trunk stick a coffin box back there. I have mine in a box that takes up more than half my trunk and I'm pushing close to 149 dB. I never thought 2 12"s would be this loud. A DEFINITE BUY!!!

  • I have 2 06L712D4's that take residence in my 05Mazda SP23 Hatch. Each is being powered by an Alpine PDX1.1000. One is recieving 1211WRMS, and the other 1199WRMS.Each has its Dual Voice Coils paralelled so the amps see a 2Ohm load, They can handle every thing that is thrown to them, and more. Kicker also warrants the use of Subsonic Filters to protect the woofer from over excursion below tuning frequency. Mine is set at 35hz. I fabricated seperate 2.5cu.ft slot loaded enclosures tuned @ 35Hz. These subs require an extended break in period. I used Kickers overnight method of sending them 45HZ while freeair, peak to peak. I did this for a couple of evenings. The Bass is thick like syrup, but smooth like honey. The rest of my components comprise of; Source JVC AVX33 DVD Front Stage Focal 165K2P (X 2) In each Doors Rearfill Focal 165KP Both These are powered by Alpime PDX4.150. Focal do not reccomend the use of PDX amplifiers with their speakers, but with correct EQ/Configuration/Installation I had no problems. TN52 Tweeteers make you melt. 06L712D4 - Alpine PDX1.1000 X 2

  • First off, I'm running two Load Boss 200 amp alternators with small diameter pulleys, 1 red top battery for starting and 1 yellow top for my gear, 2 stinger 10 farad hybrid caps, and all 1/0 gauge kicker wire. I have two of these Kicker 06S12L7 dual 2 ohm subs in separate 3.8 cubic foot per chamber custom boxes tuned to 34hz each with a Kicker 05 KX2500.1 running 1336 watts to each and they hit HARD as hell and won't even fail with 400W rms over Kicker's rms rating. My Yukon XL is falling apart, and I mean that LITERALLY. The rearview mirror rattled off the windshield and the handle to pull down the open rear hatch came off after the screw in it vibrated out! The screws in my doors are starting to unwind and receed from the doors. These things might end up costing me even more money, lol. Killer subs. They kill your car I mean. Buddy of mine with two JLw7s in JL H.O. boxes and two JL1000/1 amps says that my system is louder, but you can kinda notice a difference in sound quality, but shit if my $250 dollar subs sound almost as good, and are definately louder than his $550 dollar subs, THAN I SAY GO KICKER!!!
