Product Reviews For Hifonics ZXi 1006

  • Hifonics has done it again. I have this amp running 3 15" subs bridged at 2.67 ohms and it hits hard. Specs say do not wire this amp under 4 ohm bridge, but it can take it. They have not fixed the problem of there amps getting hot, but I have installed a aux fan to help keep it cool. (Hifonics hear us out. Install fans in your amps) You must install a extra battery or a cap if you don't want your lights to flicker at night. Overall this is a damn good amp and I would recommend it to anyone.

  • I've been using this amp to run 2 IDQ12's and the SQ and sonic impact is astounding!!! The performance to cost ratio for this amplifier is unbeatable, believe me I've been doing this for years. Be sure to run a pair of 2 ohm subs or a single 4 ohm sub for maximum power output for this beast to run most efficiently or it will get hot! Running 3 15" subs for a 2.67 final mono load will cause any amp that is rated @ 4ohm mono stable to get hot. . you will get MUCH clearer bass and higher SPL if you use what I mentioned earlier. Just make sure your woofers can handle that kind of power. . .this thing doesn't mess around!! I'm really not one to buy things for "bling" but I have to admit that the blue lights look oh so sexy in the trunk.

  • This amp has tremendous undistorted RAW power the specs are underated if I had run this amp at rated power it would have blown both of my MTX subs I had to turn gain to halfway setting just keep my subs from disintegrating and this is with 4 ohm subs if i had paralelled them and run it in bridged mode @ 2 ohms load it would have shredded them in seconds at full output. WAY underrated Hifonics has always been among the best and still is this amp will not dissappoint whether for a mono sub or in 2 channel mode for a pair of subs it has the power to get the job done.

  • I installed this amp to run 2 12 inch type Rs i have ran it in both mono and stereo i keep the gain pretty low cause i dont need that much power i got the 2 channel a/b to keep sq and it does just that it is power hungry if u turn it up so i would recomend a cap to keep voltage drop to a minimum great amp great price your gonna want to mount it where u can see it cause it is one sexy amp

  • I currently have this amp running 2 10" type r subs. Problem is that this amp isnt 1 ohm stable so i'm getting rid of them and thinking about getting 2 12" cerwin vega subs the VMAX 12.4 if anyone thinks would be a good setup please review and let me know. Overall though this amp is a beast. great power but likei said only complaint is that its not 1 ohm stable

  • I have this amp running to (2) 12 inch Kicker CVX and they slam...this amp has a lot of power. I would def recomend this amp to someone who is looking for big bass. I set off car alarms all the time.

  • this amp constantly overheats, somethign ive heard echo from eveyr local installer in my area, they refuse to carry this amp. after 30-45 minutes of running at descent volume and being tuned by a professional, the amp would shut off from overheating, and died in about 4 months. DO NOT BUY!! soundstream amps are 10 times better for close to the same money.

  • I've had two of these in my 2002 Chevy Tahoe on four Rockford P3 15s for about three years now and Im runnin them at their lowest recommended loads (4ohms bridged) and they sound great and play for a LONG time without overheating. My SUBS will get hot before these amps do and they are REAL good subs. They don't run too hot but they do get warm. Then again, what amp doesn't? They play my RF subs loud and long. No problems. I'd recommend this amp from this site too, as it is a Hifonics authorized dealer that sells it at 59% off MSRP. I also have two of the new model version of this amp in my 2004 Yukon XL. Its the ZXi1008 and those amps play just as great and never get hot either. Maybe there is an underlying reason in the installation for why that guy's amp is overheating. There always is.

  • i have this amp hooked to 2 re audio se10d4's, and these subs are hungry, they are rated at 600wrms. i had a ma audio hk898, it was not strong enough for these subs. i began to look for an amp that i could afford and would feed the subs what they need. hifonics zxi1006 does just that. it is big, but it is also powerful, a 2 channel SQ amp with a remote bass knob and subsonic filter, it may just be the perfect amp in this price range. look around, you'll be back. i was able to find mine for a little less that this, but this is a very good price. i love this set up, the important thing is to know what you want and the proper way to wire it, pay attention to mfg specs, and you will not be disappointed. never ever try to use an ohm load lower than mfg specs you can burn up stuff like that.
