Product Reviews For Cerwin Vega VMAX 12.4

  • Just got this sub, using Alpine MRD-M1005 Amp, hits hard. Had Infinity Perfect subs, like this setup better.

  • I have this sub in a 2.25cu ported box tuned at 30hz and man this thing gets way low. I drive a 89'Astro van so the BASS really travels in all that air space. You would think I had something more than just one twelve but that's all I have now. Future plan is to buy another cerwin vega and run two twelves each in their own 2.25cu ported box off a phoenix gold 1200 1channel amp. Great buy for awesome quality.

  • I just installed two of these subs in my friends 2001 Sebring. I got them running off a Hifonics Brutus 1200 rms amp paired with a 1.2 farad cap. They sound great! I have one JL 12w3v2, which I think has better sound quality but it sure doesn't beat up my eardrums like these ones! Great Deal for great bass at a cheap price.

  • Very good sub! Well worth the money and then some! Need to get a bigger Amp using a Pioneer GM-520T 2 ch, Not nearly enough power for this sub!

  • I bought 2 dual 2 ohm subs and decided to break them in with a JL 300/2 amp. Was bumpin for a hot minute. I then gave the subs more juice after about 2 wks. there is about 1350 going to them right now. I blew one by making the ring thats glued to the spider and basket come completely apart from the basket. I took it back and got another one. Im about to get two more if I dont upgrade to something that can handle the wattage! For the money, they are pretty good.

  • This sub is one of the best I've ever heard. I have one 12" vmax powered by a Kenwood class D 1000 watt amp and it really pounds hard. Works great on all different types of bass lines (tight, loose, and continuous). I would reccommend this to anybody who wants something really loud without braking their wallet.

  • These speakers are top of the line. I had 2 of these hooked to a MTX 1501d and they hit harder than mike tyson. Definetly worth the money. Need a strong amp though.

  • I purchased this sub a lil over a year ago. I wasn't thrilled with the enclosure specs that came with the package. So, I contacted Cerwin Vega and asked if there were other specs available. Glad I took the time to investigate. I am using the sub for HT. It is amazing at how the entire house thumps, shakes or rumbles when playing a movie or music.

  • these subs are hot! Actually i got a different version of these subs. I have the vmax 124 without the decimal point. Make sure you get these with the decimal point in the model number because the ones I got have these weird spider arms that protect the cone and they don't really fit in a standard 12" opening on sub boxes. I literally had to use a hand saw and cut wedge holes in order for the sub to slip into the openings. But first turning them on, I knew I was getting the outstanding cerwin-vega quality! Rule of thumb is to not blast the subs...play them at moderate to low volumes for awhile before cranking the volume!!

  • Bought two of this when they frist came out and they are rated @ 600 watt rms. Tested them in a bandpass box with the hifonic 2000 watt amp for about an hour they sounded the same as a rockford 600 watt subs but these are way better cuz i have blown about 6 rockfords in the pass these are the best. All my homies want to buy them from me. Best sub I have ever owned

  • I had two of these 12" powered by a 800rms audiopipe 2 channel mono amp in my 1999 mercedes ml320 and blew them to hell after two years have everyday playing. I have not seen anyone tell me that there subs has lasted that long and beat out 100's of other systems. I even went to best buy to test out the spl and i was pushing 149.7 dbs at 2 ohm stable it was crazy lound. Best subs ever waiting on my new ones to show up.

  • Cerwin Vega has a great reputation for developing decent equipment at affordable prices. They've been doing it for years, and this model was no exception. Now I'd like to comment on another review for this sub. Will from Middleton, NY doesn't know what the heck he's talking about. How can you "push" two of these with a 800 WATT 2 CHANNEL MONO AMP @ 2 Ohms AND hit nearly 150 decibels? 1. Mono amps are ONE channel. 2. Two of these subs would require more than 800 watts to yield decent results. 3. The ohm load you're "pushing" has nothing to do with your system's DBs. 4. No way you were hitting anywhere near 150 DBs with two of these subs and 800 watts.

  • I work at best buy and we do not do any kind of spl or db testing what so ever. my two 12" alpine type x's wont even hit 149 db and ive got two alpine mrd-m1000. one going to each one thats 1000watts rms to each sub.
