Product Reviews For Alpine PDX-4.150

  • This is the smallest amp money can buy for all the features you get. It sound fantastic with speakers or subs. Heat is a minor issue. But however, its small enough to fit under your seat, the ideal place for an amp in my opinion. I would reccommend this amp highly if you have the money.

  • stackable design is the best thing to come since sliced bread. sound quality is more than expected, a little costly, but well worth every penny. if you have a limited space to work with, and looking for big power digital d-class or multi chanel these alpines are great!!!

  • This amp is small!!! It never got hot on me yet..My speakers scream now with this amp. If you can afford it then it's well worth the money.

  • MAN!!!! This amp is off the chain. I have my Type R 6.5 componets and my Type R 6x9 speakers hooked up to this amp. Everyone thinks I have a sub in my trunk.

  • A bit on the pricey side. But when this thing is hooked up and going I only got one word....WOW. Just the quality you get with this thing pretty much offsets the cost

  • Just replaced a lesser amp of equal rated power with this one. The sound quality at 70% up volume has improved so much one would think that a new set of speakers was installed as well. Clean, cool, awesome appearance, and more headroom than my ears will ever need. Also a wonderful amp for tight places with limited cooling. I am running both this one and a single channel 1000 watt alpine class D amp in a very small enclosed space and have never experienced a heat issue of any kind.

  • Seems less powerful than the older Infinity 4x110W RMS amp it replaced. However, excellent sound quality. Visually appealing. Great quality gain and crossover knobs. Down-angled power connectors are annoying if you don't have this amp installed at the edge of a box.

  • I got this to so I could start upgrading my system. It really improved the sound and gave me extra ceiling over the amp I originally bought which was a Blaupunkt 5 channel (55x4/200x1). I suggest you start with higher wattage so you don't end up like me spending more replacing components 6 months later. My old amp would start clipping when I got up towards the volume I wanted to push my system at. No problem with this amp, I haven't got it to start clipping yet and I've had it up to the point where it almost starts to hurt. Plus the sound quality from Blaupunkt to the Alpine is like night and day. Highs weren't nearly as clear on the Blau as on the Alpine. And also with this amp you have upgrade flexibility. You can bridge this amp to 300x2 and purchase a second one. Not sure if you really need 300 watts per speaker but what the hell. I'll probably try it down the road. Next purchase will be the Alpine Mono 1.1000. I also suggest that if you have any experience in installing car systems that you stay away from Crutchfield. It seems that the way high prices they charge are to pay their telephone techs, I guess. I've only purchased this one thing so far from here but you save so much over Crutchfield. I'll stick with purchasing from this company unless they start messing me over. It's great for me though since I live in Vegas and they're in Cali. I got my amp in 1 day.

  • this amp is ahead of the rest, you can only resect the size when you see it in person its tiny! before this amp i had a sony xplod with 110 watts going to each speaker, well i could turn it up all the way without it hurting my ears, this is with alpine component speakers in the front (i dont have rear speakers yet) and holy crap i turned the gain to stock setting turned my radio up and OMG! i had to turn it down, its insanely loud, and the sq is awesome. this is all off of a 16 gauge power wire, reason is because the shop by me hasnt got there 0 in, im sure when i put 0 gauge it will be 5 times louder, i cant wait. This amp is certainly worth the money, at first i was like i dont know but now i do know it is worth it.

  • Purchased 2 a few montha ago (4.100 and 1.600). Unbelievable at how small these babies are, but heavy for their size! Build quality is excellent and very classy looking - even the plate in front that protect the controls are steel. The features I gave 8 since I believe the lack of bass boost (especially on the monoblocks) are a must. Different color lighting options for the blue led window on the top would have been great as well. The sound quality is really good. The STN is a bit of an issue but not all that bad - depends on your application. They are however a bit pricey, but I think the build quality, size and styling not to mention SQ justify the cost. Other brands out there are similarly or even higher priced and seems cheaply made or boring to look at (especially if you enter sound shows). Overall - an 8. Lower noise levels / price and different color LED options wouldve earned it a 10.
