Why Choose Rockford Fosgate P1-1X10 Enclosed Car Subwoofer?
Deep Bass, Small Space Impact
If you want real bass without taking up your whole trunk, the Rockford Fosgate P1-1X10 Enclosed Subwoofer hits that sweet spot perfectly. It’s built around a 10-inch Punch P1S4 driver that delivers tight, controlled low-end with a single 4 ohm setup that keeps things efficient while still giving you that solid punch you can feel on every track. It’s the kind of upgrade that instantly changes how your system sounds without needing a full rebuild.
Solid Build for Clean, Controlled Bass
This enclosure isn’t just about the sub, it’s built to perform as a complete system. The 5/8 inch MDF construction keeps everything rigid so you don’t get unwanted flex or vibration messing with your sound. Inside, a computer-tuned vented design with a high flow low noise port helps push air smoothly, giving you deeper bass extension and cleaner output even when you crank it up.
Built to Handle Real Power Every Day
Rockford didn’t cut corners on durability here. The Kevlar reinforced cone paired with an NBR surround gives you strong, stable movement with low distortion, even during heavy bass drops. Add in the anodized aluminum voice coil former, spider venting for heat control, and a tough poly cotton spider for stable excursion, and you’ve got a sub that stays consistent. Rated at 250 watts RMS and 500 watts peak with CEA-compliant performance, it’s ready for daily abuse without falling off.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- • Why does my P1-1X10 sound quieter than I expected?
Some users find that the P1-1X10 delivers strong everyday bass but does not produce the extreme output they expected from a larger system. Its 10-inch single-sub design is better suited to balanced bass than competition-level volume.
- • What should I do if the subwoofer is not hitting hard enough?
Check the amplifier gain, crossover settings, wiring, and power delivery first. Users have reported noticeably better performance after properly adjusting the amplifier controls rather than simply increasing the volume.
- • Can a 500-watt amplifier be too much for the P1-1X10?
The enclosure is rated at 250 watts RMS, so an amplifier capable of considerably more power requires careful gain adjustment. One real-world setup used a 500-watt amplifier, but proper tuning is important to prevent excessive power from damaging the woofer.
- • Why does my P1-1X10 sound different after changing amplifier settings?
The enclosure responds noticeably to gain and crossover adjustments. A customer reported that tuning the amplifier controls changed the subwoofer from a relatively mild performer into a much stronger bass setup.
- • Does the P1-1X10 produce enough deep bass for rap and hip-hop?
Yes, users have specifically described getting deep and pleasant bass from the P1-1X10 with rap and other bass-heavy music. However, listeners seeking very low-frequency competition-style bass may want a larger or more powerful setup.
- • Why does my P1-1X10 seem to need more space around it?
Although the enclosure is relatively compact, one owner noted that the bass performance benefited from having adequate room in the vehicle. Placement can affect how effectively the ported enclosure loads the cabin.
- • Why are my factory speakers getting quieter when the subwoofer plays?
One P1-1X10 owner reported a problem where the cabin speakers became quieter when the subwoofer amplifier was operating. This type of issue can point toward gain structure, signal wiring, amplifier configuration, or electrical installation rather than a defective subwoofer.
- • Is the P1-1X10 a good choice if I have limited trunk space?
Many owners specifically appreciate the enclosure because it provides noticeable bass without occupying as much room as larger multi-subwoofer systems. One customer reported that it fit well in the available SUV space.
- • Why does my P1-1X10 sound good but not loud enough for outdoor use?
The P1-1X10 is a single 10-inch enclosure rated for 50–250 watts RMS, so its design favors a practical in-vehicle listening experience rather than maximum SPL. Users have described it as strong and smooth, but not necessarily ear-splitting.
- • Why can't I find a protective grille included with my P1-1X10?
The P1-1X10 does not include a grille from the factory. Crutchfield's Q&A notes that the optional P1G-10 grille can be purchased separately, which may be useful if the enclosure is installed where the woofer could be exposed to cargo or passengers.

Fits perfectly at the back of my SUV. Hooked it up with a 300-watt amp and its really sounding better than what I expected. Its body also doesnt take up too much space wc is a plus. Will be going to upgrade to a 500-watt amp next week. Maybe one from RF. can’t wait to hear that bass

Teamed up with a 500W amp, it delivers buttery smooth bass that hits deep. Adjusted the knobs right, and it started to thump hard. While not ear-splittingly loud, it's still a solid performer.
