Why Choose Kicker 43C124 Component Car Subwoofer?
Simple Wiring, Accurate Bass
The single 4-Ohm voice coil simplifies installation and works with nearly any amplifier, making it perfect for versatile car audio setups. Combined with a flex-resistant polypropylene cone, this subwoofer maintains cone rigidity under heavy bass, delivering precise, distortion-free low frequencies.
Stable, Precise, and Durable Bass
360-degree back bracing strengthens cone stability and minimizes flex, delivering tighter, more accurate bass. The ribbed foam surround with double stitching supports long cone excursions while maintaining alignment and durability, ensuring consistent, high-performance bass over time.
Durable Foundation for Powerful Bass
The tough steel basket provides a rigid, vibration-resistant foundation, maintaining the subwoofer’s structural integrity even during high-output sessions for clean, consistent bass performance.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- • Why does my new subwoofer produce very little bass?
Check that the amplifier gain, low-pass filter, and subwoofer polarity are set correctly. An improperly sized or poorly sealed enclosure can also significantly reduce bass output.
- • Can I use it with my factory car stereo?
Yes. You'll need an external amplifier, and many factory systems also require a line output converter to provide the proper audio signal.
- • Why does my amplifier go into protection mode after connecting the subwoofer?
This usually happens because of incorrect wiring, a short circuit, or an impedance mismatch. Verify all speaker connections and ensure the amplifier supports the connected load.
- • Is a sealed or ported enclosure better for this?
Both enclosure types work well when built to the recommended specifications. Sealed boxes provide tighter bass, while ported enclosures deliver greater output at lower frequencies.
- • Why does the bass sound distorted even at moderate volume?
Distortion is often caused by amplifier clipping, excessive gain, or damaged wiring. Proper amplifier tuning and secure electrical connections usually eliminate the problem.
- • Can I power this with an amplifier that has a higher RMS rating?
Yes. A more powerful amplifier is safe when its gain is properly adjusted and clean power is delivered within the subwoofer's rated limits.
- • Why is there a rattling noise when the bass hits?
The noise often comes from loose interior panels, license plates, or enclosure hardware rather than the subwoofer itself. Inspect and tighten nearby components to eliminate unwanted vibrations.
- • Does it need a break-in period before it performs its best?
Yes. Playing music at moderate volume for several hours allows the suspension to loosen naturally and helps the bass become smoother over time.
- • Can I wire two of these subwoofers to one amplifier?
Yes. Make sure the final impedance matches what your amplifier is designed to handle before connecting multiple subwoofers.
- • Why does it get hot during long listening sessions?
Some heat is normal during operation, especially at higher output levels. Ensure the amplifier is correctly tuned and avoid continuously overpowering the subwoofer to prevent overheating.

Bought two of these and it was PERFECT. Great bang for your buck. Bought it to replace factory speakers and I think I did pretty well for the first time! Who says cheap subs don’t sound good? Kickers are truly the best.
