Why Choose Kicker 49L7TDF102 Enclosed Car Subwoofer?
Connect It Under Your Truck Seats
Like all Kicker subwoofer enclosures, the Kicker 49L7TDF102 can be a go-to option if you are looking to add a powerful bass output to your audio car system. Just connect it under your truck seats with your subwoofer amplifier, and you'll understand why everyone loves a Kicker subwoofer.
Monstrous but Accurate Low-frequency Performance
The Kicker 49L7TDF102 has a 10-inch L7T subwoofer that is composed of a polypropylene cone and a Santoprene rubber surround, ensuring you get a monstrous but accurate low-frequency performance with reduced noise at high noise volume levels. It also allows the sub to resist the stress from prolonged use hours. With its shallow mount design, you won't have to worry about placing the subwoofer on some tight spaces inside your vehicle.
High-quality Medium-density Fiberboard
Its enclosure is made of high-quality medium-density fiberboard, an industry-standard material known for its toughness. At the same time, the Kicker 49L7TDF102 is covered in a thick black carpet to protect it from scratches. Its downward-firing design maximizes the subwoofer's potential, so you can get the powerful bass output you'd expect from a Kicker sub.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- • How should I secure the enclosure in my vehicle?
For safety, you must use the included mounting brackets and screws to firmly fasten the unit to your vehicle floor, preventing forward movement during abrupt stops. Always check the area underneath the mounting surface for gas tanks, brake lines, or electrical wiring before drilling.
- • Can I connect this enclosure to my factory stereo?
Yes. You'll need a compatible mono amplifier and, in many vehicles, a line output converter or integration module to connect it properly.
- • Why does my amplifier keep shutting off while playing bass?
This usually happens because of overheating, low supply voltage, or an impedance mismatch. Inspect the amplifier wiring and make sure it is compatible with the enclosure.
- • Which direction should I face the enclosure?
There is no single best direction because every vehicle has different cabin acoustics. Try facing it toward the rear, side, or cabin to determine which position gives the strongest bass.
- • Why does the bass sound distorted when I turn it up?
Amplifier clipping or excessive bass boost is the most common cause of distortion. Lower the gain and adjust the low-pass crossover to improve sound quality.
- • Can I use an amplifier that's more powerful than the subwoofer?
Yes. A properly adjusted amplifier supplying clean power is generally safer than an underpowered amplifier driven into clipping.
- • Why does my trunk or hatch rattle when the bass hits?
Strong bass can cause loose trim panels, license plates, and interior parts to vibrate. Tightening loose components and installing sound-deadening material will help minimize rattles.
- • Can I replace the internal subwoofer if it becomes damaged?
The enclosure is precision-tuned for the specific driver included, so replacing it with a different model is not recommended as it will compromise the acoustic performance.
- • Why does the bass get quieter after playing for a long time?
The amplifier may be entering thermal protection or your vehicle's electrical system may be experiencing voltage drop. Check amplifier ventilation and inspect the battery, alternator, and wiring.
- • Can I add another enclosure later for more bass?
Yes. Make sure your amplifier can safely handle the combined impedance and total RMS power before connecting an additional enclosure.

This subwoofer was installed in a crew cab truck. The box fits perfectly under the rear seats and does not stick out. The box is very durable, and the quality is top notch. The price was high compared to other brands but sometimes you get what you pay for. The sound is pretty good, but I have my amp turned down to help break it in properly. I have Kicker L7's in other vehicles and I know they take awhile to break in properly. After that I have had no problems. I am very pleased so far with this purchase. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good quality subwoofer to help with sound quality.
